CODEX CRASHES solution for your SM2 crashes (Crashing on start-up, black screen, overoll crashes)

INTRO

Ave, my fellow defenders of the Imperium of mankind!

Since the SM2 was released, many Astartes have experienced issues that prevent them from fulfilling their duty. The most common problems are game crashes on start-up, black screen, and crashes during the missions.

Such heresy condemns the spirit of my machine as well. After 95 hours of the "There is Only War" game, it suddenly stopped working. Every attempt to launch it always ends in crashes on start-up and a black screen.

For 20H of searching manuscripts of other Astartes, reaching Adeptus Supportus, searching Eldar Google-web and praying to the holy spirit machine, I found solution!
Below, I'll describe step-by-step everything I did to purge heresy and release the spirit of my machine from the grasp of Chaos.

SOLUTION

Let me describe all the steps that led me to problem-solving. Information below approved by support team.

1. First thing first, I checked all blocks with recommended actions from Troubleshooting Common Technical Issues (PC) for SM2 [support.saber.games] and made sure that all of them were done!

Comment: Since I tried to fix a problem in many different ways, like reading lots of relevant discussions in Steam and searching for information on Google, most of the recommendations were already made (Nevertheless, I rechecked each step to make sure) , except for Removing the Local Driver Shader Cache for NVIDIA (I didn't see this one in any Steam tread related to crush and black screen).


2. Therefore, my next step was removing the Local Driver Shader Cache for NVIDIA.

Open "This PC" and use the path below to reach the DXCache folder where the Local Driver Shader Cache for NVIDIA are stored.

Path to Shader NVIDIA Cache - C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache

Open the DXCache folder, select all files (Cntrl + A), then press combination (Shift + Del) to purge this heresy from your PC.

Notice: For AMD all process is the same except path. Use this one -
Path: C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\AMD\


3. After I finished my purge with the NVIDIA cache, I remembered that it was on another suggestion, which I spotted in one of the discussions, but I was afraid to erase my saves and progress. However, the God Emperor spoke to me and whisper the words of wisdom — Steam Cloud is ON dumb ass.

So, another purge need to be complete brother. You need to delete Local Files for Space Marine , which include config.exe. You can find this heresy by using the path below.

Path - C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Saber

Notice: Ensure all your game progress is saved on Steam Cloud storage. If you know you are not using Steam Cloud storage for saves, create a backup version of this folder to save game progress.

To check if Steam Cloud is turned on, open:

Steam and click on the “Library” option (you’ll get a complete list of the games you play).
Right-click on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
At the bottom, there’ll be an option named “Properties”.
In the "General" tab, look at the Steam Cloud section for a blue ticker.


4. Do not close the "General" tab because now we will add Launch Options.

Copy and insert one of these options to Launch Options field -dx11 or -d3d11

Notice: I'm currently using -dx11, which works fine.



5. Now, we need to do another purge - delete the EOS and Easy Anti-cheat folders.

Use this Path: C:\Program Files (x86) --- find both folders (they should stay together) and delete both folders.


6. In the final step, we need to verify the integrity of game files (to reinstall EOS and Easy Anti-cheat for correct lunch SM2)

To verify the integrity of game files, open:

Steam and click on the “Library” option (you’ll get a complete list of the games you play).
Right-click on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
At the bottom, there’ll be an option named “Properties”.
Go to the "Installed Files" tab and press "Verify the integrity of game files."

After Steam finishes verifying, you can launch the game via Steam, and it should start working properly.

Notice: Since you deleted the old config file, your game settings will reset to default automatically, and you can spend up to 5 minutes right before getting into the main menu because the game will start to optimize and prepare visual shaders, which you also deleted.

This is it, the game should work now without any problem!

CONCLUSION AND THOUGHTS

Today, you, brother - achieved another victory for humanity and brought bitter defeat to the Chaos!
However, this is just a fraction of evil which continues to plug many Astartes machines' holy spirits.

Tzeentch - uses his spells to break the connection with Terra servers. Nurgle - spread disease and decay to many brothers GPU's in order to overheat. Khorne - send his cheating berserk's to devastate Imperial PVP servers. Slaanesh - post treads on Steam about the importance of "LGBTQ+" content and how the absence of this content offends "imperial citizens."

Many will say that developers' mechanicus didn't do their job properly and don't care. However, considering the game was released just 2 weeks ago and devs are constantly working on hot fixes, we should take it easier and be patient as our Emperor on the Golden Throne.
If you disagree or are unsatisfied, that can be the first sign of demon possession, which leads to heresy.

The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!

I was consistently freezing and crashing on the helmet removal cutscene, specifically the second the chest emblem was centered on screen before reveal. And if I decide to skip it and do the carnifex fight, my game would freeze the instant the carnifex fight cutscene started giving no chance for skipping. Audio kept going even as cutscenes froze. I have tried everything under the sun on atleast a dozen forums and web help articles. But you're help was my salvation. Words can't express how grateful I am for your assistance.
