tend to just have to spam parry as actually swinging your weapon will often end in you taking too much damage unless it's enemies jumping up/falling from somewhere then you can swing away
majoris are okay to fight, rely on dodge and parry as again swinging too much you will just get punished if you're facing multiple enemies
this is true for most classes tbh, but yeah don't bother with that unless you know you won't take too much damage (which is often the case when people are downed)
Because it is the weakest class by far in higher difficulties due to the nature of the game's enemy balancing. Ranged enemies shred health, and due to having laser accuracy, by flying up into the air, you become a target for them all. It's the reason why the class is gimped until you reach Level 23 when you finally unlock the ground pound kills recharge the Ability.
You play hit & run from that point on. You jump, slam down into the biggest pile of enemies you can find, maybe take out a bigger enemy, then immediately back into the air to hunt down the next pack. Assault doesn't want to be close to the enemy for too long, which is ironic considering the class, that is the life of the Vanguard and Bulwark. You are the backline harasser and swarm disperser.
In short, you are basically what the Sniper is, but for the trash enemies.
Go build up a class with 3 weapons so you can share those weapons with other classes as you level them.
Nonetheless thanks for all your answer.
Hope Sabre give the class a purpose then, because it sure ain't a boss killer either.
According to their latest Q&A they had, they are still 'gathering data' on the Assault's performance after they started hearing and seeing people rate it so poorly.
either you do that or you give a damage bonus vs minoris to the heavier melee weapons
it's pretty ridiculous that they can just tank a hit from these massive melee weapons like thunder hammer/power fist. would also mean we wouldn't have to rely on parry spam as much vs minoris
Oh better yet, just play other better class until Dev buff this hot garbage.
I mean, with exception of the Sniper, who can go invis while doing that (if they skilled that perk), i am not exactly seeing seeing how that isn't a death sentence for any class.
If you struggle with Hordes, then use the Chainsword. Otherwise play to your strength. The Assault is supposed to be mobile... you aren't a Bulwark that is supposed to run into the thick of things and stand your ground. As Assault you charge in, hit hard, and get out.
Assault has AFAIK the largest Dodge radius of all Classes. You are supposed to flit in and out of battle.
I think the thunder hammer should be unblockable against minoris. Also, I think killing with a melee weapon should regen assault HP; something like 2% per minoris kill, and 15% per majoris kill. Or maybe allow assault to build up bonus armour a la Quake, where you can have >100% armour but it depletes down to 100% over time as well as, obviously, in response to damage.
It's difficult to say, though, because, personally, I find difficulty 4 Nids easier than difficulty 3 Chaos, so those numbers I threw out would likely be too generous for Nids but might even be too little against Chaos.
