nerfing the enemy isn't gonna make it less weak in comparison to melta, its just gonna make it able to somewhat kill enemies better but melta will reign even more supremely as it'll kill ♥♥♥♥ it once occasionally struggled with and needed a couple of shots to do them in, now it'll just do em in instantly.
Bolters either need a buff, or Melta needs a nerf. Melee on the other hand is hilarious, definitely needs a buff. You can see it in PvP, a lot of problems xD
Not really, meltas are good for crowd control, but not so much for single target damages. What make the real power of the meltas isn't the amount of damages much, but their AoE (bigger with reach) and its ability to mass stagger enemies. So what truely make meltas more powerfull is increasing its AoE or stagger ability.
Meltas are good when you're joined by low level / low skill players, it give you great crowd control abilities to carry the fight easier. It's also a very good weapon for vanguards, as you can blast enemies with it just after using your grapple (it deal extra damages this way), it give this class a very good ability to take down majoris / extremis and large chunks of minoris.
Minoris???
Who speaks about minoris enemys? I speak about being able to stunlock 10 Majoris or Extremis at once and kill them all in 1-5 shots with the meltas. While i stand next to it with my bolt rifle, being happy if i can bring down only one Majoris enemy in the same time ...
Nothing will bring these weapons closer together, but they should finally buff the bolt weapons, instead of making the game even easier fpr melta users.
Its funny what you said ...
"meltas are good for crowd control, but not so much for single target damages"
Because witht he meltas you can kill 10 "singletargets" at once in less time then a bolt rifle can kill one target. Because the melta guys dont really have to aim, they just hold their weapons roughly in the direction of the enemys and spam that thing like there is no tomorrow. Since they stunlock eveything, they are never in dnager. The bolt rifle guys on the other hand need to aim for head, and on top of it need to adjust for enemy movment and also have to dodge the enemys attacks, wich means they have to pause their own attack aswell. The melta bobs, never have to do any of these things, no matter if dealing with single or multiple enemys, so they will always be better, no matter what situation, except boss fights or long range engaments wich do not really play a role, since oyu have to move close anyways for your executions ...
Well, that's exactly what I've said, it's good for crowd control. Obviously a melta will melt everything in front of the user and yes, you can stunlock and slowly kill a great amount of majoris at the same time, but that's crowd control too.
But it lack reach, the real limitation of the melta is reach, if an enemy shoot at you from a distance, you'll have to close the gap first. A bolter don't have this problem and that's why I prefer bolters as they're way better to be able to quickly engage ranged targets. The heavy bolters are especially good at that btw.
Bolt Rifle(with GL) and Sniper has no serious issue here.
What is needed is buff to the actually bad bolt weapons, such as the smg-like carbine.
I have a feeling that people who complain about underpowered bolt weapons were using the actually bad ones, such as the smg, lmg, "auto" variant.
They're hardly going to lower the health that much that the melta will kill faster. It's so high damage that you'd need a big adjustment to health in order to make it kill in fewer shots. Bolters however will notice a difference. And as I said it will only have a small difference, but I'd rather them make incremental changes than over-correct. They're not against improving the bolters anyway.
