questioning and doubting a veteran battle brother is exactly how titus got into the deathwatch in the first place
The Ultramarines are based around Greek/Roman culture and a big part of the Ultramarine lore is that they have their councils and meetings, and titles and ranks and all that jazz. But ever since Guilliman disappeared and Terra decided to split all the legions into chapters there's this endless power struggle within the chapter and between the different founded chapters from the Ultramarines. With Calgar heading one of the many factions and other named characters others. They are mostly working together and praising each other, but they are as likely to doubt the purity of each other's actions, or criticizing how well someone follows the codex astartes etc. So that is and has been a big part of the Ultramar politics in which the chapters are involved.
And then we have this game in which we have Primaris Marines. Most Primaris marines are new, fresh, they've been reared for a certain task (usually in 3 man squads) and feel very entitled about everything. They don't have any history of the Primarch, nor the Chapter masters even sometimes. Nor the Heresy or when their legion was a legion instead of a chapter. So they're the new kids on the block, they're cocky and all want to show their skills over others to earn the next rank and fill in that achievement box etc.
Sigh, I guess I am the only purist here. Sorry troubling you all for believing the lore from the rulebooks.
Yeah. Funny how committed normies are to the fluff. Fun game all the same though, just remind yourself, it’s popcorn Matt wardian era inspired lore, ie, one step above average Hollywood movie.
Idrk anything about warhammer lore but didn't they make Astartes canon? I thought they put it on their official website now and everything
Like it or not, Primaris are here to stay and are younger and more fresh and more willing to question something they are not familiar with when dealing with a 200 year old LIEUTENANT (He was stripped of Captain, if you know the lore, you should be able to identify it from his helmet)
