Weapon perks seem poorly designed.
For one, they are boring.

"10% more damage" "20% less spread" "10% more ammo" all these are very boring perks with not much affect on actual game play. If I am picking entirely different branch of perk, but feel no need to change my playstyle at all to take advantage of them, then I think that is a bad design.

Also, for it being a "tree" format being requiring something before I pick another down the road, there are so many trash perks that I am being forced to take.

Worst offender that comes in mind is one on chainsaw.

"10% more damage when armor is full"

Like WTF? If on range weapons then maybe, but on a melee weapon? Like I get it to proc twice, getting nice 20% extra damage I would get from a single swing, then gone?

Who designed this?

I mean if were being real here what else could they add in those weapon trees?

Hmmm.

My idea would be something just more impactful and be felt. Maybe something like:

"First round in magazine deals 100% extra head shot damage"

"Bullet no longer spreads but fire rate is slowed by 50%"

"Heavy attacks no longer available but light attacks are 30% faster"

Of those nature.

Something that actually makes you feel like you can play the same weapon differently.

i guess but like the first perk idea is best for snipers

the spread honestly is not that good actually i think thats kinda bad.

heavy attacks are essential but if your playing combat knife with vanguard it could work.

Obviously those are thought on the spot haha, but if they are thought out, I think that would make the game much more interesting. Just perks with numbers or some just not even usable in game right now... I could thought them out in 20 seconds. I just think it was lazy, no way around it.

I think you got hung up on the specifics here rather than the idea. OP wants perks that actually alter game play rather than some minor stat increases and conditional buffs.

I too find many of the weapon perks underwhelming. Most of the stats should come from the upgrades, perks should offer utility and differing play styles.

i want the devs to add different type of boltor ammo so where it has different effects or how about after reloading the clip half the ammo magazine does a high damaging burst. What about with the heavy boltor for heavy if you got an execution you get no heat build up for 10 seconds with increase fire rate.

Exactly. Those are the perks that people can enjoy using or at least switch up how they play the game increasing replayability. Those would be much better than what we have now, and could've easily thought out by dev if they put any effort in perk design.

Again, I just think weapon perks were just an after thought with very little effort put in to them.

yyyea i have to agree with this, because most weapon perk are mostly goes to reserve ammo & clip because you need A LOT OF ammunition when it comes to ruthless run. I think the ammo bonuses should be the default perk for everyone to have, while adding more spicier perk like dealing x damage on x range, headshot give ammo back like relic version of stalker/sniper bolt, etc

Absolutely agreed. They did decent job with class perks but weapon perks are absolutely underwhelming.

this i would agree because i simply just go "oooh more damage good" and there we go like i want hellfire boltor ammo or dragonfire boltor ammo if thats what its called because there is countless options to tweak a weapon but the devs probably did rush through it sadly.

That would be fire.

I am almost willing to bet 90% of players don't even remember which weapon perks they are using on their main weapons LOL.

the developers not adding more ammo automatically per upgrade is insane to me like yea you can leave an upgrade slot for even MORE ammo but like for each weapon tier it should be a given to add more ammo to the weapon otherwise people are just gonna be focusing either on damage or ammo reserves but no accuracy or nothing.

I do think ammo management is in a weird place too. I think they could increase ammo capacity in general but put limited use on ammo crate or something.

Agreed. These perks look lazy and rushed. Just sitting down for 5 min, We can think of perks that would be infinitely more interesting.

Operations need much rework. Too less ammo, too tanky enemies. No stagger when shooting them in the damn face. ♥♥♥♥ health mechanics. Even Darktide does this a million times better.
