Multiplayer chat is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead

Ya’ll need to talk more across the board, it’s a little less dead in Eternal War, but it’s still pretty barren. I did about 4-5 Operations missions the other night and there was virtually no communication at all beyond using the built in emojis. Not saying communication is needed because it’s easy enough. Just gets boring.

Is chat much harder to do on Xbox and PS5?

Id highly recommend the discord, its pretty easy to find a group to run with and chat.

Many players play with a gamepad, using emoji instead of chat

Hard to find players when they soft-banned every linux and steamdeck user.

Its a bit hard to type when your character stops whilst you type.

Turned off vocal chat after my first SM2 game.
Only console bums eating chips and talking to their mother.
I’d rather type in chat for PC users and straight up kick consoles.

My bad I wasn’t clear. I don’t ever use my microphone either unless I’m doing PvP, I’m talking more about written communication. When im in Operations mode I don’t like to talk much because it takes me out of the immersion when I hear some crackly voice tell me I need to stand next to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cart so that it moves.

all of this pvp is trash. They nerf one whole classes ability to counter the unrealistically high armor shields on two other classes but do nothin else. Weapons are super weak compared to others, noone talks, people think they are good at going alone, steal kills, the assist system is bs . This pvp is trash and saber, imo, wont be smart enough to balance all these classes.

To me the voice chat is more of a nuisance than a comms tool.
Pretty often I hear random noises or pieces of conversation which were shared unintentionally throughout the session.
Is for console players the mic always active for some reason?

As for writing in chat:
During a match I wouldn't write either, unless necessary.
If you get ambushed while typing you're screwed.

From my observations of a xbox player in my house, typing in chat doesn't show up at all to console players.

I communicate a lot via the wheel and ping.

This is one thing that actually works, it's still a bit wonky, sometimes your trying to highlight and it dumps a marker, gets the message across though.

But, go hither, thank you brother, stim packs here, grenade stash here. Is all you need.

The few times I use chat if I need to afk, I epically fail, GG at the end of a good run, reply if someone say's hi, and twice due to frustration.

I think the last game I used voice chat in and it's many years past was Warframe.
