How will prestige work?
So apparently there’s going to be a prestige system but how would it work?

Will it just reset class level or will it reset all weapons too? (I’d hate that put a lot of work into it)

No clue.

Prestige ranks usually mean you redo the grind, sometimes you get a nice lil bonus.

What bonus? I haven’t played cod in years but when I last played all you got was a higher rank

I haven't played CoD since 2006-ish, so I can't really relate to the example. I couldn't say what they did after MW2 (when I got burnout).

Some games, like Dead By Daylight, include miniscule rewards on prestiging. Like skins or some almost unnoticeable bonuses to RNG.

The real point is that none of us know what the SM2 system will be like. We just know we'll get prestiging from the roadmap.

It's a saber.
Look at their past games.

It's going to be terrible.

Not sure what the whining is about. World War Z has a very solid prestige system, that offers massive boosts to the char when prestiged and used correctly.

Best case scenario: they tie cool cosmetics to Prestige.

Worst case scenario: you get an emblem.

You had to start from level 1 multiple times to get huge boost.
In World War Z the medic got long range revives and could mask revived teammates from hordes and got better with more prestige and the medic gun had extra perks. That was a big deal for the hardest difficulty and people complained if support classes didn't have their roles leveled up.

People are complaining about low levels in ruthless because they are underpowered. A prestige system that resets you back to level one just makes it worst and it makes the game even more tedious for people who just want to play the hardest difficulty without worrying about maxing their classes.

It was not a good system. It is just plain stupid game design where saber hopes people have enough mush brain to believe that grinding the same ranks over and over is content.

I mean... that skinner box.

Never been a fan of prestige systems. Refused to do it in COD and won't do it in this game.

I'm guessing the payoff for prestige will play into new difficulty, like the perks Pebbles mentioned above.

I'd rather stay on base content working low levels up to 25 with my maxed out marines...

Probably extra perks given WWZ's system. Which is nice but it is one hell of a grind. I think xp bonuses ought to become the norm with prestige systems, like in KF2.

World War Z has a nice prestige system, you get exta bonuses each time you redo the grind that have a tangible impact to the class you play, would fit nicely in the PVE. PVP.. probably not so much

You're missing the point. WWZ and for sure SM2 have nothing do with what COD or other shooters do with prestige. In WWZ, if you prestige a class after hitting 30, you gain a permanent buff that's always active even if you haven't reached the level yet that it's tied to. And for every round of prestige, you receive another of those buffs. Some of those buffs are gamechangingly powerful, some aren't, but in general, it's a great incentive to prestige and level up again.

Having a prestige system is always bad. I really hope they don't do it.

Exactly one of the reasons why prestige is bad. It's just an unnecessary artificial grind for people with adhs who only play for the next reward and sadly todays gaming culture made most people be like that.
What happened to playing a game for fun, even if it doesn't reward you with anything besides getting better at playing the game?

So you're forced to do it if you want to keep up with the playerbase. That's even worse than locking special cosmetics behind prestige ranks.

Always bad? Weird generalization considering “Prestige” systems are so good that there’s an entire genre dedicated to that loop and is massively popular.

Is this just a “CoD bAd” post?

Why wouldn't you want to prestige? If you love the gameplay so much, what difference does it make whether your char is lvl 1 or 30? For those people who want to be hardcore and go for the ultimate challenge of hardest difficulties in the game, prestige boosts are there to assist with that, as a five skull level in WWZ is smidgen difficult without the prestige boosts and relatively doable with, than without. You don't reset the guns, you reset your char, to gain a boost to its power.
