Prestige ranks usually mean you redo the grind, sometimes you get a nice lil bonus.
Some games, like Dead By Daylight, include miniscule rewards on prestiging. Like skins or some almost unnoticeable bonuses to RNG.
The real point is that none of us know what the SM2 system will be like. We just know we'll get prestiging from the roadmap.
Look at their past games.
It's going to be terrible.
Worst case scenario: you get an emblem.
In World War Z the medic got long range revives and could mask revived teammates from hordes and got better with more prestige and the medic gun had extra perks. That was a big deal for the hardest difficulty and people complained if support classes didn't have their roles leveled up.
People are complaining about low levels in ruthless because they are underpowered. A prestige system that resets you back to level one just makes it worst and it makes the game even more tedious for people who just want to play the hardest difficulty without worrying about maxing their classes.
It was not a good system. It is just plain stupid game design where saber hopes people have enough mush brain to believe that grinding the same ranks over and over is content.
I'm guessing the payoff for prestige will play into new difficulty, like the perks Pebbles mentioned above.
I'd rather stay on base content working low levels up to 25 with my maxed out marines...
You're missing the point. WWZ and for sure SM2 have nothing do with what COD or other shooters do with prestige. In WWZ, if you prestige a class after hitting 30, you gain a permanent buff that's always active even if you haven't reached the level yet that it's tied to. And for every round of prestige, you receive another of those buffs. Some of those buffs are gamechangingly powerful, some aren't, but in general, it's a great incentive to prestige and level up again.
Exactly one of the reasons why prestige is bad. It's just an unnecessary artificial grind for people with adhs who only play for the next reward and sadly todays gaming culture made most people be like that.
What happened to playing a game for fun, even if it doesn't reward you with anything besides getting better at playing the game?
So you're forced to do it if you want to keep up with the playerbase. That's even worse than locking special cosmetics behind prestige ranks.
Is this just a “CoD bAd” post?
