Warp shenanigans.

the chaos legions come from a time at which those types of armors were still be able to be produced in greater numbers and at which there were no 1000 marine chapters but entire legions of thousands of space marines so naturally the legions also had more terminators than the individual chapters have access to now.

so more space marines turned to chaos?? and in much larger numbers?

The Chaos Legions are typically 100k strong and as Darth Revan said, from a time when the armours were on the battlefield more.

Plus the difference in our T armour and theirs means they have the upper hand in quality then throw in the warp shizz and fun begins

they just figured out how to weld ceramite onto mark 4 power armor again. turns out using a welder isnt space magic that only the emperor knew how to do

yes, thats the reason why after the horus heresy the space marine legions were split up into smaller chapters.

the codex astarted limits a chapter to about 1000 marines in order to prevent a single individual to have command over an entire legion of space marines ever again. (but not all chapters follow that size limitation, like the black templars for example)

like take the ultramarines for example, before the horus heresy when they still were a legion they were the biggest of all the legions and they consisted of about 250.000 marines at thair peak.

now the ultramarines chapter consists of about 1000 marines (unless Guillimans return changed that of course)

But....but the black templars are totally on crusade, the Codex supports this we swear!

I think for fleet based chapters in general, no one will really bat an eye if they are 20-30 above full strenght. Especially if they are spread out across several sectors or Segmentums.

The Black Templars are a special case since they practically in every Segmentum and dozens or hundreds of Sectors around (while also steadily recruiting to recuperate their losses), so keeping their Chapter strenght at 1000 is logistically impossible.

Hoping to see ultramarine terminators in upcoming operations.

I dunno, but keep 'em coming because ripping the head off a terminator is awesome.
