You will not all of a sudden beat all operations on ruthless just by having relic weapons.
edit: just go Vanguard/Heavy/Tactical with Melta and cheese your way through Ruthless.
I hate to say it but use the Melta hell if your playing with friends in a pre made that's 3 right there.
What I mean by that is you can then unlock other stuff exploiting the win button that the Melta is. Is it the way game should be played up to you its your game.
But once you have at least a relic pistol, that all of your characters that can then run it, and its by far better than anything in the lower tiers.
I see it as progression I started at the lv 1 now on lv 4 but again if i, levling weapons I tend to run lv2 or 3.
But thinking about for those who don't have as much time to play as someone like me then yeah some way of trading up would be good, but again is it just a skip to the end,
I appreciate the suggestion but I still have not heard a good reason why the change I proposed, or something similar shouldnt come about other than I dont deserve the best stuff. i shouldnt have to cheese the game to get access to 1/4 of the available weapons due to a lack of skill. Lock me out of cosmetics or achievements? Sure, but why actual content?
Many games however are more risk vs reward balanced. If you don't take a risk you don't get the best reward. This tends to be popular and feels like a natural fit for a game where 3 of you go up against impossible odds.
Being able to trade up armour data would remove that balance as it's the only thing you can't get by grinding more low level missions. I've done ruthless before the patch, it was fun and I felt like I'd grown as a player when I started to get good at it. That said I do tend to run a lot of missions on lower difficulties just to get EXP.
The risk vs reward mechanic can give a good sense of achievement, which is great for our monkey brains to make them happy :)
So take a step back, work out why ruthless or substantial isn't working for your group then find some ways to practice. It will feel brilliant when you get your first relic weapon :)
Common points are not avoiding damage, and the bulwark in particular is hard to parry on. Fencing melee weapons help a ton as does using a trail to practice in. Ignore the time objective and just practice your defence. Try doing the lower difficulties with no healing, get used to keeping your amour up. That used to involve a lot of rolling about but now we can stand in the melee a bit more as long as we remember to stop killing and parry for a bit to get armour back.
Watch some vids on your preferred class or weapon. Talk together about who is low on resources. Found a stimpack? Who needs it the most? Found some ammo, who is running low and who has a gun that can carry the team through and needs the ammo the most (looking at you melta rifle or multi-melta).
Learn about the types of enemies and how they attack, that's really helped me take less hits. You don't need to be a button pressing ninja, you just need to take that step back and focus on training your mind on what to do and when.
I spent many level just focusing on getting better at one thing. I sucked as I wasn't using all the tools I had, but after getting better at each thing I'd add another skill and slowly it all came together. You'll get there, just break it down and get better at one thing, then another.
You contradict yourself. You want the higher tier weapons because of their looks, that's cosmetic. "lock me out of cosmetics, sure" .. well that's what you're getting. You're locked out of cosmetics.
The higher tier weapons are no different in actual content than the lower tier ones. They're just cosmetic. And you're agreeing that you should be locked out of cosmetics due to lack of skill.
"I want", "I should", "I deserve" are all just entitlement in this case.
You deserve what you can achieve, your wants and desires are arbitrary.
You can use a gold armory data in place of any other color armory data. You can use a purple armory data in place of a green armory data.
So you can go high to low, but not vice versa.
Yeah, but you want the power fantasy without the power. You're allowed to look cool when you do cool things, like beating the hardest difficulties. The main thing you have to do is to master the parrying mechanic. It's hard at first but if you practice enough you'll be able to do it automatically at some point. No amount of cool looking stuff will feel as good as being good with the mechanics of the game. You want to look cool for real ? Learn to chain kill majoris like a boss.
