Good luck in disrupting screamers, calling for reinforcements while they are 50m+ away from you when all your team has are Meltas an no one can reach them in time.T
Good luck killing heretics with sniper rifles, sitting on far away latches and balconies, piercing your armor and disrupting every of your actions while you can't do sh*t against them.
There is a use and a way to play any weapon sensible in this game. If you can only master one, thats a YOU problem. L2P and git gut, pleb.
The only weapon that I actively don't like when dealing with hordes is the dagger. You don't need melta now that it's so easy to heal up going full melee during a horde.
Like the other guy said, a relic plasma with charged shots makes it trivial.
But this weapon can't really deal that well with extremis target and above as it can't trigger critical hit, while my plasma pistol can do better (just limited by ammo) and even bolt weapon does better if you can crit. And I talking from a multi-melta point of view.
Which is ironic, condidering that melta are supposed to vaporised flesh and metal alike, and is considered as an anti-tank weapon, rather than an anti-personal weapon.
Overall, the greatest problem of this game is that the opposition is categorized by his health pool, rather than having some strategy and weapon design to down them (Ex: in Darktide , mob are unarmored, flak or carapaced. Some weapon are better to deal with them than other and mob don't need to have an heal pool that will suck 90% of your weapon reserve to down them).
At this point, game need a serious rework of weapon and enemies so we have weapons effective against certain target and limited in other domain.
Just my 2 cents (but no, Melta is just easy to use, not the best option if there's any).
I think it would help a good deal if they just renute this so headshot do a regular 100% increase and buff the body shots to compensate.
Say the situation right now is:
1dmg body shot, 4dmg headshot
changed to:
2dmg body shot, 4dmg headshot
Then go to perks and change all the +10% headshot damage to +10% damage and only keep the headshot perks on weapons like pistols, stalker, sniper etc. and make it +15%.
This way bolt weapons would get a small dmg buff, but more importantly become much more user friendly. I mean it's a damn rocket launcher why should I NEED to aim for a head?
Let's just say you can tell the difference between your average Melta user, and someone rocking onto Ruthless with a 'sub-optimal' weapon. Hint, the latter tends to be able to contribute to the fighting.
bruh the HEAVY BOLTER machine gun do less damage than a plastic toy
