Higher difficulty PvE ammo reserves feel low
Or maybe it's just that the randoms I've been queued with thus far (Threat: Substantial+) haven't been too great. But PvE ammo was no issue up to now. Where I get a squad that struggles to get past the Neuro in the first mission. Melee doesn't work, because well, it flies. And it's HP pool is so massive now I'm totally out of ammo before it dies, causing me to just wait and beg for it to do the AoE pulse where you can get in close to knock it down for a while.

That's just my most recent example, but I feel like ammo reserves and/or restock options are a bit too limited. Yes, I've read the description with the difficulty saying less supplies and all that. But you're giving me a flying enemy that I can't melee and not a single restock point or crates to break for ammo.

In a normal fight or grounded enemies I totally get it, but with the flying enemies or ones that can't really be melee'd (i.e. the Heldrake, but there they DO give a restock point) it just seems weird to me. Then again, as before, maybe me and randoms just weren't a good squad and we burn through our ammo without killing a Neuro boss. (I won't even start about everyone dying because they don't seem to have dodge/parry buttons mapped)

Yeah, the worst by far is inferno where there is actually 0 ammo until the section where you have to search the bodies.
Extremely fun as well when you're on substantial, run out of ammo then have to face a zoanthrope.

It's just the job of a sniper or a player with a plasma weapon or a stalker bolter. It is desirable that there is at least one such player in the team.

The game assumes that you will be in melee combat 70% of the time and only 30% in ranged combat, except for heavy support. Even the tactician is forced to engage in melee most of the time. Moreover, it's difficult to kill even minions with a bolt rifle—it takes at least 2-3 body shots and 1 headshot. No matter how much ammo you get, it still won’t be enough.

Over time, you start to understand when to shoot and when to switch to melee combat, especially after leveling up 3 classes to level 25.

It's funny that only a few ranged weapons have the ability to pierce and hit another enemy behind, meaning the effectiveness of ranged weapons in the game is pretty mediocre.

I totally get where you're coming from. There is a big wall to climb going into substantial. I also had the same issues of having a wave, having one call reinforcements and then getting a boss when I was already low on ammo. It feels like the green weapons are not strong enough to clear it. You use so much ammo because your weapons are weak.

The biggest change I think was to use your ammo on the trash mobs and getting better with parrying to be able to do more gunstrikes against the bigger enemies. Mod your weapons for extra total/clip ammo. Don't be afraid to use the melta as a crutch in the beginning to get your first purple armory data to unlock those stronger weapons. its ablilitiy to stagger/interrupt larger enemies and delete large amount of weaker mobs is good.

I read a forum post that prompted me to move out of sustantial and into ruthless pretty quick. Saying substantial felt worse because you had just so much thrown at you. And I agree. I've done more and had less issues doing ruthless. I've even done a few of them solo.

Yup, and this is especially bad if you're playing heavy, as your melee attack is literally the wet pool noodle meme; you are absolutely dependent on your ammo supply. If you're using the plasma incinerator (post patch buffed version) and you miss twice, there's no way you'll have enough ammo between your primary AND your secondary to finish the fight. This is solo, btw.

Post patch, yeah, the bots do actually attack bosses more now, but their damage is pretty much non-existent against them.

early neuronthrope will sometimes require melee to kill, depending on squad composition and waves you had before. it's a bit slow to kill this way, but if all squad members melee when it lands you will kill it - just have to be a bit patient in these cases

I'll never get devs who are extremely stingy with ammo in shooter PVE games. Let us shoot the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapons you spent so much time developing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

Well, you are supposed to be conversative with your ammo, but placements of restocks are extremely weird.
Often 2 full restocks are 50m apart from each other (loadout changer + ammo chest, or just 2 ammo chests back to back)

Usually I have way more than enough ammo though, after all, the secondary pops every minoris with a single shot as well, as long as you hit the head - which is rather easy to do and lenient I'd say.

You can always just keep going btw. The terminus enemies aren't that dangerous so technically, you should probably use the ammo on Majoris and Extremis and push towards the next ammo chest to finish the terminus.

There is one before it, but it's only like 1 corner before the section you are mentioning.

The placement of the fixed resupplies can be weird, but there should generally be sufficient ammo, unless you end up with a really unfortunate class combination.

Only weapon I've had serious ammo issues with is the heavy plasma incinerator, but then that thing is a weird, weak apprentice-of-all-trades that sits awkwardly and uncomfortably in between plasma pistol, heavy bolter and multi-melta, pondering existential dread over an identity crisis and a lack of clearly defined purpose.

Can be even extreme low with some weapons, depending on who is playing with you and how it goes. Thats why i said, it would be good to increase the ammo pool of some weapons by 25-50% (depending on the weapon) ;-)
