Extremely fun as well when you're on substantial, run out of ammo then have to face a zoanthrope.
Over time, you start to understand when to shoot and when to switch to melee combat, especially after leveling up 3 classes to level 25.
It's funny that only a few ranged weapons have the ability to pierce and hit another enemy behind, meaning the effectiveness of ranged weapons in the game is pretty mediocre.
The biggest change I think was to use your ammo on the trash mobs and getting better with parrying to be able to do more gunstrikes against the bigger enemies. Mod your weapons for extra total/clip ammo. Don't be afraid to use the melta as a crutch in the beginning to get your first purple armory data to unlock those stronger weapons. its ablilitiy to stagger/interrupt larger enemies and delete large amount of weaker mobs is good.
I read a forum post that prompted me to move out of sustantial and into ruthless pretty quick. Saying substantial felt worse because you had just so much thrown at you. And I agree. I've done more and had less issues doing ruthless. I've even done a few of them solo.
Post patch, yeah, the bots do actually attack bosses more now, but their damage is pretty much non-existent against them.
Often 2 full restocks are 50m apart from each other (loadout changer + ammo chest, or just 2 ammo chests back to back)
Usually I have way more than enough ammo though, after all, the secondary pops every minoris with a single shot as well, as long as you hit the head - which is rather easy to do and lenient I'd say.
You can always just keep going btw. The terminus enemies aren't that dangerous so technically, you should probably use the ammo on Majoris and Extremis and push towards the next ammo chest to finish the terminus.
There is one before it, but it's only like 1 corner before the section you are mentioning.
Only weapon I've had serious ammo issues with is the heavy plasma incinerator, but then that thing is a weird, weak apprentice-of-all-trades that sits awkwardly and uncomfortably in between plasma pistol, heavy bolter and multi-melta, pondering existential dread over an identity crisis and a lack of clearly defined purpose.
