Story is severely lacking
i'm a casual player who enjoys games mostly for the world building and story elements but do not shy away from a challenge. Unfortunately SM2 I found to be severely lacking in this deparment. The campaign was epic in a grand sense of scale but unfulfilling lore wise. The story just felt short and lacking nuance and depth. The final boss doesn't have anything profound to himself other than being a sore loser. and the tyranids well... not sure what more they can tell about them since the game does cover pretty much all quite well. Also the characters felt for me a bit cardboard cutouts. Quite generic. I wonder if we can expect more?
As I am not a massive Warhammer nerd I do not know much of the backstory details anyways, but caught up enough to know there is much more potential here. I felt like that for an enemy steeped in arcane mysticism and parallel realities, bending time etc. etc. they hardly explored those aspects storywise. For agents of a Deity that should be the ultimate deceiver the thousand sons seemed cartoonishly naive and their plans foiled literally with a macguffin - seems to me like there could be much more explored storywise.
Any suggestions on what they could explore more?

The main campaign feels more like a love letter for people who love space marines and their lore. I'm a massive fanboy for the 40k universe and loved all the little details. It legit felt like the game was made for me. However, I agree that the story isn't going to win any awards or anything like that. I can't imagine what this game would be like for people who don't know or care about 40k lore.

Also, describing the final boss as a sore loser is very fitting for that entire faction lol.
