I've made similar suggestions in other threads complaining about the current patch. Maybe throw in some cosmetics or something, but nothing tied to game play progression.
People don’t like to be locked out of cosmetics. Zero reward is the best avenue I believe.
Ruthless was playable with green bolt weapons before the patch. People that play ruthless are not necessarily playing melta/op classes. It is not needed. You could always try low tier weaponry to make it a bit spicier or interesting, but it was still not very challenging (bar a few encounters that will mess you up, of course). There is no need to insult people here.
Considering we have learned what stats they can tweak with just difficulty, they have a lot of potential making Lethal actually be its namesake. Would mostly be funny seeing 90% of the people claiming Ruthless currently is too easy suddenly complain how unfair that difficulty is.
As long as they make it challenging through hilarious damage from enemies, higher spawns, more aggressive AI, even faster movement from the said AI, but at no point make them bullet sponges, then they'll be cooking.
Completely agree.
That would be amazing. These games are at their funniest when you get bullied. Nothing like getting out of the hairiest of situations by teamplay and individual skill.
As Kao mentioned, Ruthless was never actually that challenging, you just needed a firm grasp at the base mechanics, which the game is not exactly the best at explaining.
You can run them with full whites and still beat with little actual life lost. As long as you had the capacity to Parry and Dodge, you never had to fear losing a run. The update now just made more weapons less of a chore to grind, and Chaos more fun to fight.
Headshot a leaping Tzaangor, only to get the same treatment from an Inferno Bolt cross map.
Heck they could actually remove the audio and vision cues to boot just for the funnies on that difficulty. Would have to actually learn the animations to heart to recognise the attacks.
to hide repetitive game nature you need give people what to grind for but if you locking it behind harder difficulty now you pushing people to higher difficulties
Even more xp will have some people complain. People want to go fast. They want to have everything and have it fast. They will speedrun the game and leave it when they have all the progression done, because that’s what the gaming industry has made of them in the last decade. We need a difficulty to play for fun, not for trinkets.
I have hopes for Lethal, because many of the people that play for progression and not for pure gameplay will be gone by the time it drops, and there will be less resistance.
I'd be fine with it either way but you're probably right. I don't think people would be AS whiny about just cosmetics at least lol.
