Getting PvE matchmaker to work for a party of 2

I currently have 1 friend who plays with me, and when we join each other the matchmaker won't go finding a 3rd for us. I've had the typical but workable issues when playing solo and getting the matchmaker to work. My friend is now pushing into top tier difficulty and I am no amazing player so 2 players and a ♥♥♥ just isn't going to cut it for long.

Anyone know of a solution other thank posting a LFG?

In short:

- The matchmatchmaker sucks.
- Less and less players play co-op.
- PVE sucks due to hosts that kick others at the end of an operation.

Deep Rock Galactic, an indie game, does a better job for co-op.

It is laughable and a shame that SM2 doesn't offer a BASIC server browser by default.

Games had this since the 90s. It seems devs are getting more dumb by each decade.

Simple - queue into a match where either you join a game with a slot or become host with a slot open and invite. Easy as that. Matchmaking as 2 will almost never work. Matchmaking as 1 and inviting your friend when you have a slot or find a slot open is the best work around. Do it plenty with my friends to get a full lobby if there's only 2 of us. Want to remain host instead, then just leave squad if it throws you into someone else's lobby before it loads you in. Again, simple solution to your problem.

I wonder if switching game modes will fix it if you are in a team....

should have some sort of hub not dissimilar to Darktide to aid matchmaking, me and my mate always have issues with finding a third, and the bots are less than useless.

A dev commented on this yesterday and their suggested fix actually worked for me. Only works if you're on PC

Checking Firewall authorization for the game :
Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed apps
Look for the game and authorize it with Domain
(Trying to authorize Private and Public as well)

So i looked at my firewall authorization, and i saw space marine 2 was listed twice, one was set for public and the other was set to private, that confused me so i backed out.

I have a buddy that i play with and what we do is one of us queues into matchmaking and wait till we see that one player joins not to and right as that happens my buddy joins and boom we have a third until they decide to leave

mine was already authorised as i clicked it when the game first booted, i do with all online games, double checked and it is still authorised.
