I am using the standard chainsword, I have always been able to parry with it, and I can time my parries perfectly with every other class.
the only weapon available to tactical marine is the chainsword...
no wonder I was getting absolutely clapped by everything.
Why the hell would anyone choose block? it makes you basically just a sitting duck and unable to get any momentum.
Because gun strikes are very VERY risky right now, and dodging still works. Why would I give up damage just to hit "c" instead of "space" when I can still hit "space" either way?
The problem with gun strikes is two fold:
1) They don't give immunity frames, you can still be hit by attacks. Including attacks from...
2) They don't interrupt the attacks of the target, so the target can still hit you while you're gun striking it.
And no I'm not using the perk thar increases parry timing.
Vs majoris and up a gun strike will break the enemy out of their animation and any enemy around them will be slightly staggered, it's very safe
Its only dangerous to gun strike a small enemy
A well timed parry vs small enemies will just kill them outright
I suspect the person you are responding to is having a bit more trouble because they admitted to relying more on dodge. Dodging can still produce gun strikes, but it does so without the slight knock back and interrupt first. Gun striking after a parry is almost always safe. Gun striking after a dodge often results in taking damage.
