Is the Cadian 8th aware that each soldier is one time use ?
Are these men and women aware that the moment they are engaged into combat their life expectancy is measured in mere seconds? They way they fall in battle yet still march forward to serve the emperor of mankind

yes. but its better to die for the emperor then live to yourself.

yes, they are very aware

Average lifespan of a guardsman on the front lines is 15 minutes

They are aware of this

But running away
For one, will just result in being shot for cowardice

And for 2

Would leave the Tyranids free to eat everyone

Its the choice between letting the aliens kill everyone, or take your place in the line, and hope to be one of the lucky ones that live

I swear, some of these guardsmen have the bravery of an inebriated Blood Claw.

They are very much aware. They just realize that their job is to grind enemy to a stop with their own bodies. Because alternative is to have a world fall to Chaos\Nids\Orks\Necrons.

Yes, and that’s what the commissars are for. :gatorhappy:

They are very much aware. You can catch some of the guardsmen talking about deserting in the campaign.

Didn't see any summary executions in the first mission. Whoever's commanding the 8th are certainly doing something right.

It happens much later in the game.

Hahaha, yes, they are very aware. But indoctrination and the Cadian pride in general will do that to a guardsman. Still, while staying on topic it's funny to see all those bait threads even though one of the most badass characters of the campaign is the 8th commander who happens to be a WAMEN OMG.

Love me some guardsmen.

The planet will break before they do. ;)

This is exactly why the Guard are my favorite faction. There is nothing more heroic than unaugmented humans clashing with the forces of terror, knowing full well they will most likely die, but holding fast for the glory and survival of humanity.

On the first main mission I had a guy, spitting image of how Elim Rawne is described assaulted by a bug. I took down the bug. Fella stayed there, stood there, holding the line all by himself against the 3 million tyranid horde.
Now that is fething dedication.
And that is why we need a fething Imperial Guard game.
