Game says running on steam but nothing (fix)

So I ran into a issue while trying to start the game, Steam would say running but game would not open at all, the fix was to open task manager and close Epic games and the game would launch straight away. Hope this helps

i have same issue and tried this and got no result i closed all 3rd party apps still nothing i verified files nothing many restarts nothing i currently deleting files and then verifying and will update if this works !

I also made exceptions in the firewall settings, not sure if that could help if you have not tried that yet?

so it seems i had to delete epic and reinstall delete the anti cheat and game exe and verify game and update and then i can play again lol!

You can actually remove the Epic Games Services from your PC and the game will still run. Space Marine 2 will have a little fit and be like "Epic Game's Services is not on your PC please repair your install." when you get to the title screen. Though you can just click OK and the game still starts anyways. I highly recommend removing it because it has been tied to a lot of problems, and there's only like 5 people playing it on Epic Games Store anyways so your not missing anyone.
