1. Melee in high difficulty is just suicide. The risk is significantly higher than reward in Ruthless difficulty. The whole dodge/parry thing is built around 1 vs 1. If you dive into a swarm of enemies your HP bar gonna evaporate instantaneously.

2. No reason to use any weapon other than Meltagun (High damage output + AOE). Bolters family no matter which variant simply does not cut it in Ruthless. Bolters can do bare minimum against single target (Majoris threat), not to mention against swarms. Bolters are such an iconic in 40K, give them some love.

Warhammer 40k : Space Melta 2

Anything else is useless

''The whole dodge/parry thing is built around 1 vs 1''

Yup

The devs played too much Helldivers and now the game is neither Helldivers nor is it closer to Space Marine 1 nor is it a Gears game.

Just a pretty looking 40k game with mehh ish combat

for real, feels like unless im using melta then im basically knee capping myself. majority of the weapons suck ass in terms of time to kill in operation for anything over the second difficulty. I figured if I can push into higher difficulty then I can power up - nope, just makes the bullet sponge feel even worse (looking at you thousand sons missions).

Who thought it was a good idea to make a badass game about space marines and then replace most of the guns with squirt guns? Can you find a way to make it work? Yes. Is it fun? Not really, the first did it better

hoping someone can take a look at the balance on the weapons

point 1 isnt true, you just need to stagger executes and learn how contested health works, difficulty 4 isnt hard at all once you get good at the mechanics (felt impossible to start with, then gets very easy once you get better)

I kinda agree.
Melee is fine when against Tyranids, as you can kill the elite units and all minions will die immediately. So if you have jet-pack or grapple hook to get through the swarms then it is a valid option.

The guns need some buff, not too much.
But the melee definitely need some more love. Increase the attack radius and more knockback when parry/block enemy

The mechanics doesnt scale very well to higher difficulties. Like you said, melee is suicide later on. Also things like perfect dodge and shoot might get you killed since you are stuck in animation and still take 100% dmg from everything around you.

I like difficulty, but I feel like this is not quite tweaked since core mechanics of the game becomes useless when I think they should be the center piece of "get gud"

1. Well in the lore it's pretty much said all the time that Astartes don't go into 1vs100 fights because it's suicide... The game would be terrible if you could just run into melee kill everything in a single hit and go away, of course in higher difficulty you'll have to use ALL the mechanics, which means parry/dodge/gun shots AND using your ranged weapons...

2. You obviously haven't played enough... Meltas are braindead weapons but they are far from being the best... One of the bolter is infinitely more powerful than every melta weapons in the game and it's not the Heavy Bolter!

First of all, this isn't a lore accurate game but a power fantasy. If you want to go down that path then know this: In lores, Meltas shoot beams not pulses. Second, I know you are referring to the grenade launchers that is another outlier, too. I didn't mention that does not mean I am not aware of that. There is only one class has the access to that weapon which honestly does need some tuning but I'd rather Devs buff the rest.

I have to agree with you here, the combat is an absolute mess atm and needs immediate balancing and fixing. Started playing on the xbox simply because my pc couldent handel it. But to your point combat is a absolute unbalanced mess. Im stuck at the part where you have to defend the antenna and im getting swarmed. My health evaporates instantly and i cant do anything other then doge and im playing on angel of death difficulty i get it in keeping realistic to the lore but you can stick the lore while balancing the campaign. Because going in getting swarmed and having to resort to melee only to end up dieing cause health cant regenerate fast enough or cause armor dosent regenerate fast enough. is redic then theres the recieving damage from a zillion different sources while trying to handel all of it is impossible. from the melee to the ranged add in trying to defend objectives in campaign that are getting destroyed in seconds or by the time your finished dealing with mobs and are back on the objective the objective is destroyed bringing you back to the check point save its redic. Seriously nerf some of the dam damage output you can make a game challenging but dont make it a brick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall to the point where i lose interest because dying all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time just aint fun when it dosent allow me to progress the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game

depends, bulwark with power sword and aoe parry perk is godlike in melee. combat knife is also extremely fast at parrying so you can kill hordes fairly quick just with parry spam

actually attacking with combos as melee? nah forget that, the game is not really designed with that in mind, certainly not on harder difficulties. it's more like sekiro and waiting for counters

of course it doesn't matter that much how good melee is when you can still be shot at from too many directions for that to be relevant. it is situationally good though

power first and thunder hammer should hit way harder though, and the relic fencing chainsword is bugged (it's not acting like fencing for parries)

Fuken this man, I'm so glad other people see it too. The system doesn't stand when the numbers are ramped up.
