First, Melta has obvious range issues and limited ammo (perks help that, though). Heavy Bolter has great range and can easily clear mobs of bugs. Not the best weapon for Chaos, however. As for the hit-reg, the normal one is like 4 white lines, and the 'Headshot' version is like 8 lines (they double-up in each corner). Getting a normal kill is also 4 red lines, whereas a headshot kill is 8 red lines. All of this is in the shape of an 'X' around your crosshair.
If you compare everything to that than of course everything else is supbar but you are comparing it to a weapon that is currently considered cheese
Um red is a kill or stun (set up execution shot).
A double cross or # instead of a normal + is indicative of a headshot, and a simple + hash is a normal hit.
Seemed pretty obvious to me after not very much play.
Hmm is it a warrior with blades or a tzagnor with shield, are they holding it up, and are you seeing a shield hit indicator? If that is the case, they are blocking the shots.
And again red is indication of a kill or mortal wound, not headshots. A double cross more similar to a # is the indication of a headshot.
