Shoulder Markings
Why aren't they just mirrored so all options are available on both shoulders? I love that there's a Deathwatch shoulder available, but I can't put most of the Chapter markings on the right shoulder

The reason is that they are lore accurate and thus you have the Chapter Marks on one shoulder and your profession/ Veteran Status on the other if you take a closer look you will find meaning in every small marking available.

Cheers!

any way to stop the Chapter Marks switching back to Ultramarine from your preferred Chapter?

Ok, firstly, it's a game.
Secondly, it's not "lore accurate":
Chapter markings being on the left shoulder is from the Codex Astartes, which not all Chapters strictly follow, especially where markings are concerned. As for the Deathwatch shoulder; that's specially worn on the left, moving the Chapter marking (if it would normally be there) to the right shoulder.

Except OP is talking about the Deathwatch who SPECIFICALLY wear their parent chapters Icon the the right side, and the deathwatch silver plate and arm on the left. Mayhaps don't post about the lore if you don't know what you are on about mate.

Cheers!

So i'm kinda new to WH40K ( more versed in fantasy ) and most of the higher level gear in operations covers up the left and right shoulders with eagles/skulls, is that "allowed" then?

How do you still recognize someone without those markings?

There’s a small problem inside the lore: Deathwatch. They use the iconography on all left arm and original chapter badge on the right shoulder.

Unlock all coulors / decals from your favorite chapter before editing them. Unfortunatly some Chapters use coulors that are unlocked from other chapters. If you personalize such a chapter without haveing all things unlocked, the part that is not unlocked would revert back.
