Is it possible to keep AI for Operations?

I'm just curious if it's possible to disallow players in Operations and run then solo or with 2 people? My wife hasn't been interested in playing with other players in other games we've played, so I was curious if it was possible to keep the 3rd slot as AI.

Yes. You can form a squad of 2 players, launch an operation and a bot will fill the third slot.

But won't a player join in randomly if they quick match? Is there a way to keep it a bot?

The answer is no. Look at the roadmap, there’s no private co-op for now. It’s coming but… man this game was kinda rushed to get out for the quarter.

Hay now. Us legit fans are good to play with. Always fun seeing somone in the same chapter gear or a different chapter and you go "hay, i know that chapter". Extra points if they roleplay a bit

I was playing with my friend some Operations yesterday, we just joined each other and the game never replaced the 3rd open slot by a player, regardless did we sit in lobby for few min or not. We played bunch of operation missions and not once the game gave us another player.

We cleared few operations on the hardest difficulty. Would have been nice to have a 3rd player to make the experience a bit easier journey. So duo'ing operations of hardest diff is possible at least :D

I just don't feel great playing with a bunch of neckbeads who want me, and I quote "dead and burnt like a stinky jew" or "locked up in a concentration camp" due to having the option of being into anyone regardless of their sex, haha.

Here's the thing; don't use the quick match feature. Form a squad, pick one of the 6 operations, and play.

I have played about a dozen operations where we were only 2, and not once did I see a random player join.

I’m sure that happened. Considering every place I’ve been has been BEGGING for anyone and everyone to get into the hobby so these game shops stop dying out.

Our shops are doing fine in that regard.
The problem isn't so much IRL because IRL those creeps get punched in the head by the owners of the shops for saying stuff like that, and then thrown in jail.

But not so much in the online gaming world, sadly.

and as i said, there not real fans, there just trolls

warhammers community is one of the nicest and non judgemental communiys out there. hell, the shop people are the pinnacle of good people

are there bad apples? yes. are there fake fans? *looks at the "crap posts" here*, also yes. sadly most are online. give it a bit and the trolls will move on. they always do

So any clarification on this? seems like some people have said is not possible and it's on the roadmap, while others say it's not a feature but they haven't been joined by randos regardless. So I think it's not possible to play 2 player coop only?

I already posted this method a few times on similar posts but yes you can force the game to play in offline and retain all progression as if playing online:

Start game, choose operations and select mission.
Pull the plug on your internet until you get the 'disconnected from session, do you want to exit to menu or continue' screen.
Choose to continue offline.
Reconnect your internet.

Done - you'll now be in offline mode, but all progress will be saved as if playing online and nobody will be able to join your game.

When done exit to main menu.

EDIT - if you want to play 2 people with one AI, then start operations and before choosing a mission invite your friend. Then start a mission, someone else will join and fill the spot.
If that person leaves (not tried kicking them - but that'll prob work too), the game seems to put you into a semi-private state.
From now on it'll be you and your friend playing and the last spot will be AI.

My friend and I frequently play for 3-4 hours with nobody joining our games this way. We usually play the first mission with a random, they usually leave after. And then we're all set for 2-player mode :D
