Threat: Substantial
so i have full green gear, all skills for that level, all weapon skills for green gear, and i still wipe every single operation, enemies are like dmg sponge while you get one hit and you have no armor and half of HP, not to mention there is a lot of enemies, swarming on map, i do understand there need to be challenge, but i feel like Saber did change something in setting, even 25 lvl players had problems with so many foes. and its still Threat: Substantial, not Ruthless. the worst part, im mostly ok with so many enemies, while blocking perfectly every single attack, avoiding heavy attacks, i still have no chance to survive when my attacks do nothing to enemies, and there is a lot sponges there that whole ammo reserve is not enough

I absolutely hate games that rely on damage sponges. Especially with poorly implemented damage mitigation mechanics.

EDIT. LoL, got 2 purple data on my first go around, me a guy named Rageputty and 1 ai. That diff is fkin intense though. Went down once. Tactical. Everyone had me terrified of that diff.

This game is insufferable jumping from average to substantial. Absolutely miserable. But when you finally get tier 3 kit it does become MORE bearable but they need to tone down the damage sponge stuff.

a huge help on the team is having a heavy with the melta. it takes out so many enemies at once so the team does not have to spend so much ammo

A heavy with a Melta is ridiculously good at clearing trash. To the point where they have a god tier perk for doing that. one of the earlier ones you can get gives you back 1 ammo for 5+ kills at once, no cooldown. But the problem comes in the fact THAT'S NOT WHAT A MELTA IS FOR!

so i got to purple gear, and i have to say melta is king while im running with bolt guns and dmg suck, i changed for melta and dmg was awesome, so there is also poor balance

It's pretty painful isn't it?

Idk I love my intercessor and heavy bolt rifles.

Even the bolt rifle with grenade launcher.

They get rid of termigaunt shooters and make my life easier as a vanguard/tactical.

Grenade launcher is alright but it feels like it falls off pretty hard.

Yeah cuz bulwark is the best class. Perfect protection from ranged attacks, the only class that heals upon using a rearm pod, only class that can heal its allies, best pistol, best melee weapon. Can't imagine why you're having no trouble.

I second this. The initial jump into getting the armory data was far worse. Once I actually had it I dialed it back to tier 2 and leveled up the new guns (playing as a heavy here). With the perks I am able to do substantial like it was the previous difficulty. The damage you get with the new gear really helps. I think the big issue is that the first difficulties are geared towards the standard issue or master-crafted gear and you can get the master-crafted gear from the tier 1. Getting the artificer gear level weapons so you can play tier 3 can be a little bit more challenging.

They need to explain how the stat system works. Because the kill efficiency is definitely not even close to what "1+" damage per shot would equate.

Once you get purple gear it'll get easier, but you gotta take your lumps and power through until then (or get lucky and get carried). Average to substantial is a huge jump. The first mission is probably the easiest so try that. The minoris enemies are a bit too spongy on the higher difficulties, I wish that they had more of them with less health instead. A gaunt should not take 5 bolt rounds to kill.

See that's what I'd rather have. Give me just a jaw dropping number of enemies instead of them just soaking shots.
