Why does this game keep running after I close it?

I stopping playing literally 8 hours ago and I got back and it says it's still running. It has been doing this the last couple days and I'm not sure how to fix it. The only work around I've found is force closing steam which fixes it for now.

Just end task. It's not running anything, it just crashes on close.

just end the process in task manager if it stays active for more than a minute orso after closing the game.

Easy Anti Cheat, takes about 10-60 seconds to close, its also why loading takes longer than it should for what it is.

It does seem to get hung up on close, but I found I don't actually need to end task. It just happens to take a little while to close, easily double the length of time you would expect even if a slow close.

I was end tasking that first day or two, but now its close window in windows and wait about 20 seconds.

Never closes for me I have to exit steam entirely and relaunch

It has to log you off EAC and out of Epic. They both need to gather all their unrelated algorithm data first.

Same thing! Just shows only in Steam that the game is "Running" until I do something about it. Didn't even find in the task manager. This is a bug

It's the Epic Games stuff still running in the background. Annoying stuff. Terminate them with Task Manager and it will no longer say you're running the game.

Still an issue. On my system it's the "Epic games user helper"-ish named service. I exited EGS and that was the only Epic task that stayed running. Killed it and Steam immediately updated to show SM2 no longer running.
