Too many buttons
I have never expierienced anything like that in a game. I cant find a good control scheme without either ranged or melee combat suffering. I currently played with aiming on right mouse button (you know, like any shooter made in the last 25 years), melee on side button 1 and block on side button 2, but that made melee into something i only used when I was with my back against the wall. I tried using the middle mouse button for something, but it isnt build for rapid repeated button presses and I often press it without actually it recognizing me pressing it.

I tried playing bulwark and noticed that melee / block on the two side buttons directly next to each other makes it impossible to play and changed to melee right mouse button, block side button and aim side button and the experience got way worse than better.

I have no idea where to place melee beside right mouse button, but I cant remove aiming from the right mouse button because I cant unlearn 25 years of gaming in a few hours.

So far Ive played only heavy and ignored melee 90% of the time and the experience is...subpar.

Anyone suffering from similar problems who knows a fix?

Might sound weird, but if you are having problem with the kb&m controls, try using a controller? I'm not a fan of controllers in shooters, but maybe it'll feel better for you.

I've putted aim on mouse side button and it fixed my issue. You cant remove Melle from mouse button cause you need to click it a lot. You can maybe remap it to keyboard like Warframe default scheme does (f) since by default you don't need this button too often and you can easily rebind it to something like Z or X

right button for aiming, melee side button, block is C as it was default.

This is not too many buttons. Idk what were you playing, but its a simple control scheme

Huh, I completly forgot about the button C. Maybe its user error after all.
My problem with C would being unable to walk to the right while holding it as a bulwark.

Maybe, but I would have to start at zero. I only used a controller 3 times in my life, one time for a newgounds era beat them up game, one racing game and one time I tried playing battlefield vietnam on a controller (it didnt end well lol)

Sir this is not the Marines, you can't just eat crayons

It's the space marines, as such you must eat the crayons in the CORRECT order of priority

The dodge crayon when red or bad spot
The block crayon when blue or need space
The melee crayon when close
The shoot crayon when the melee crayon got lost

Sometimes hold the communication crayon, not necessary though

I have melee in side button 1 and parry on ctrl, I'm left handed though so my right hand thumb rest on ctrl, easier I've sound, and wep swap on mb2

Melee on Q, there's no need for your ult to be on a button as high prio as Q.

Aiming on RMB, ult on mouse side button.

Hmmm, perhaps heavy/assault would be great in those cases

Don't have too much issue with the default control scheme tbh, feels relatively fine.
Gisborne Sep 8, 2024 @ 10:15am
Is it me or on vet is it hard to dodge many attacks? I feel like the melee orange prompts are soo short and fast, I'll often have parry ready and when it's orange not have enough time to even tap space

Isn't aim and zoom the same keybinding? If so how do you bind aim to another mouse button since it is linked to zoom?
