Weapons just do not feel right in Space marine 2
Before its said I know game balance.
But in PvE the weapons feel off.
Bolters are inaccurate " for marines who are censured for missing twice during live fire drills "
That cone of fire needs to be reduced and the damage from the fully automatic rocket propelled grenades high explosive fired by bolters is laughable.
I have been hitting warriors with melta rifles and melta guns and they laugh at them.
A melta rifle should at least turn a warrior red for execution and do signifigant damage to a carnifex.
And a warrior should be a vapor mist when hit by a multi melta those things can take down a carnifex in 2-3 shots.

Melee is the same certain weapons such as the thunderhammer and powerfist feel way off.
those things take chunks out of monsters and instant kill marines.

And the only reason i can think of this is because of PvP balance.
Which turns the the other 2/3 of the game into a grueling attrition match.
I fell more like a space marine while playing helldivers 2 then in space marine.

I dunno if there can be a fix for that. other then lower the PvE enemies hit points.
or increase all weapon damage and up everyones hp's in PvP by 10x - 20x.

Maybe if they nerf all the guns you’ll be happy?

the game would go from 6 hours to 2 if they used actual 40k level damage

I do not think reading comprehension is your friend.
The entire point of that post is that weapons across the board do not do enough damage.

Yeh but go try to do some operations where the game throws 10 warrior level enemies at you when massive enemy waves come. When you have to use sometimes between 4 to 8 melta rounds for one MARINE out of your 24 it's really not worth it.
You make some good points here and i heared many of them many times befor. But one stands out ...

"And the only reason i can think of this is because of PvP balance.

This makes even more clear that a focus on the pvp mode here, makes no longer sense. Exspecially with a developer who has no clue about pvp at all ...

Maybe its really so easy, with simply lowering enemys hit points. But i have no clue how this maybe effects their behavior and the finisher mechanic :-/

I simply disagree.

So far I feel the weapons feel weaker than Space Marine 1.

Also, melee seems much more mandatory since the Warrior nids keep closing up on me.

Best weapon so far is the bolt rifle with 'nade launcher.
Vanta Sep 8, 2024 @ 7:06am
Highly agree.

A bolter should NOT feel this weak. A plasma gun SHOULD NOT FEEL THIS WEAK.

I don't know why they made ranged weapons so damn useless but they did
ExplosiveBolts Sep 8, 2024 @ 7:07am
Yeah, the game is trash and needs a major balance overhaul for just about everything.

And you of course are free to feel this way.
That is a much better answer then the mister troll nerf everything because he didn't read the post.

I’m glad that finally someone said this. The other day I was using a HEAVY Bolt Rifle on the 3rd difficulty in the Operations mode and it took me half of my mag to kill just 1 warrior. 1 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ warrior from half of a full mag. It gets even worse when you realize that as you go up in difficulty, the enemies in pve go up in health, there’s less ammo spawns, and there’s more higher hp enemies like lictors or warriors.

It’s ridiculous that they marketed this game as a power fantasy of being a space marine yet our guns feel like glorified nerf guns. I would love to see enemy hp be reduced slightly, a larger ammo reserve (maybe double the ammo we have right now) at least if they’re gonna stick to the ammo scavenging, and increased damage from all guns. Maybe like 6-7 shots to kill a warrior because it should not take 26 rounds to kill one warrior. But overall the game is still amazing can’t lie.
Bolters dont sound "Punchy" enough imo.
CHEIERON Sep 10, 2024 @ 9:36am
been meaning to put up my review for the game, but I absolutely agree.

Space Marine 1 was mostly a power fantasy, and even in PvP it felt that way. The bolter with Kraken rounds was amazingly accurate, plasma felt strong, the heavy bolter had far better spread.

As it is, especially for campaign and operations, it wants to be a power fantasy, but plays and feels more like a tactical shooter, but without the systems to support it.

Love the game, but adhering closer to the lore would make the whole game, even PvP, generally feel better.
