Clive Standen SUCKS as a Titus VA
Seriously, Mark Strong was an amazing voice actor for Titus in SM1. His voice was deep, booming, authoritative and what you would expect from a captain of the Adeptus Astartes.

Clive Standen has taken away Titus' identity and now he just has the sound of a generic European accent.

Why did Mark Strong not reprise his role as Titus in Space Marine 2? I've searched the internet and haven't found any reasons or statements by the developers.

There are many obvious reasons why an actor will not reprise a role. Could be a budget thing, could be a scheduling thing, could be down to direction or decisions from the studio, could have to do with the fact that the gap between projects is 13 years. These things happen all the time, it's nothing to make a statement about

Regarding Mark Strong, I do like his work but honestly I don't think he would've be that good a fit for the character in the new game. His voice really isn't THAT deep and booming in the first game. I feel like people are getting swept by their nostalgic memories. He has a low and calm voice, but it by no means booming at all, or particularly deep. Which is funny considering how Mark Strong CAN have a deep and booming voice.

I don't know whether Clive Standen was a good choice for Titus or not, but I really don't think one has that much more merit over the other. Titus is much older, grimmer, he's bitter and burnt. And the corny tone and isolated dialogue tracks of the early 2010s doesn't work anymore. I'd imagine if he were to play the lead, Mark Strong's relatively soft and clean voice would be drowned in the much busier soundscape of Space Marine 2.

I replayed the entire first game one month ago and as soon as my (I believed to be disposable) Death Watch character was revealed to be Titus the first thing I did was start writing a post about how poor this VA was.
It's not nostalgia, Mark Strong was perfect.

Mark Strong's granite grinding voice was perfect for Titus. Can't get used to Captain Rollo.

I just replayed some of the first game's cutscenes, and while Mark Strong was great I think Clive Standen does a fine job himself. He's just a shade higher-pitched, but not by much, and a touch less gravelly, but I like him.

I think Clive Standen did a great job personally.

The lines written for him were not great and Titus seemed to learn absolutely nothing during his 100 year service in the Deathwatch. The growing friction in the first game between Leandros and Titus made sense due to Leandros' strict adherence to the codex and imperial dogma. In this game, Titus' squad mates have legitimate concerns regarding his erratic and aloof behavior and Titus' response to that is to completely brush them off.

Imho, the writing can drag down the performance and I didn't feel like the sequel's Titus was a commanding figure, or much of a leader in general.

But we're all entitled to our opinions I suppose.

Cheers
