[SPOILER] One thing I don't understand in main campaign
What happened to the Nids? Like did we win? Just this one tyrant paralysed the whole invasion?

Don't get me wrong, I loved every second of this game, and the ending is just pure epicness. Pure chills. But kinda feels like we're missing the middle of the game?

You kill the Hive Tyrant in an Operation (spoken about in main story as Titus sends the second squad to kill it so you can send a Vox message in the story).

Once the Hive Tyrant dies the Synapse to the Hive Mind is severed and the Tyranids then eitehr die (Or more lore accurate, they go into instinctual mode and basically not much of a threat as a unified force so get mopped up).

Null Fields also screw with the nids, since the Hive mind they rely on is also linked to the warp

Like they said many times. It's a Hive mind. The main ship was destroyed so no reinforcements. They you served the link to all the ones on the ground. So yes you won. Unlike most planets that get attacked by them. Most the time they can't mount a defense. They normally attack 100's or 1000's of years after they have left a spy to convert humans (unknowingly) to their side. There is so much betrayal at the start if the invasion they don't know who the enemy is. Human? Or alien? Civil war is breaking out all the way to the top of the chain of command WHILE they are raining from the sky. After they have won they release the mind control over the people and make them watch as they eat anything and everything including them until there is nothing left on the entire planet but dust. Then they use all those resources to evolve into even stronger foes and continue to eat the universe.

Play the co-op mission and you see more of the things happening in the war with the other squads

basically the main "brain" of the hive mind is called a Norn Queen and is a massive living starship size beast that births every single other tyranid life forms in the invasion fleet from the smaller living bioships to the drop pod like things down to the microscopic spores. Hive Tyrants are sort of a backup version of the queens mind and can greatly enhance ground forces planning and attacks while the Hive mind handles the big picture so to actually stop invasion you need to kill Both the Queen and the Tyrant which will kill off a great deal of the smaller tyranids - in lore tyranids smaller then warriors have almost no actual brains, literally, its far too wasteful on biomass so instead they are telepathically slaved to bigger living forms like Warriors etc (which is why if you kill warriors all the surround guants die or get stunned depending on how far they are from the warrior on death)

Okay, but I killed tyrants in DoW 2 and it didn't stop them. They have a fleet, multiple beacons, I get that killing a tyrant can neutralize nids in a large region, but you don't stop the whole system-wide invasion by killing ONE TYRANT.

I also understand the difference that in DoW2 we were a chapter on a brink on extinction, and here we are a force of the Indomitus Crusade, but still that's not how Nids were shown to work. It would be nice to at least have a mission where we finish off the confused swarm or something. Maybe a future coop mission

I played the coop, still killing a single tyrant doesn't break the whole Tyranid offensive
