Its all about the enemy type most xenos can take a couple of bolt rounds before dying, now Ill agree Hormagonts (the small mass enemies) probably shouldn't take more than 1 shot but otherwise the other option gameplay wise is increasing the bolter round strength by a lot and limiting the ammo count a ton.

Headshots still kill them just from a single bolt pistol, But when we're talking bout bolter balance, Its important to note, Just which bolter type we're talking about.

Space Marine 2 has Bolter pistols, Bolter Carbines, Bolter Snipers, Heavy Bolters, etc.

Also for better "accuracy" shorter "burst firing" will improve your accuracy across long distances short of the carbine, Since that's more of a Sub-machine gun type.

Few games accurately portray the devastating firepower of bolters as clearly described in the official lore. This game fails at it.
Darktide is probably the closest we've gotten to a lore accurate human scaled bolter.

And half the reason for that is because all the enemies are still "relatively" human, Compared to SM2 in which you're facing off against Warriors and Zoanthropes which are the Tyranid equivalent of Space Marines and Psykers.

But yeah, Darktide does the best in showcasing its power, And its inaccuracy high ass recoil too.

yall have not gotten any of the mastery upgrades, I can tell
Deranged Duck Sep 7, 2024 @ 10:42pm
I'm not sure if mastery upgrades would help out in campaign mode.

I can understand a medium size one taking a good few rounds maybe 1/4 a mag but entire magazines is crazy for a single one of them when paying past normal.

Yeah.

Like I get it, our enemy is also pretty strong too but having to almost mag dump to kill just one semi-elite unit doesn't feel very good and definitely not a good example of Space Marine power fantasy.

agreed. they just need to power up bolters a tiny bit
from what I remember, marines got some kind of device in their head which helps them to aim
