I love DarkTide and its multiplayer. Does this game have that? Is DarkTide better at being DarkTide than Space Marines 2?
Does this game have random raids and missions to do with random people? The game looks good but I don't care about the single player story, like at all. I already watched it.

This is the mode similar to Darktide, there are only 6 ops at the moment, but they are varied and diverse in terms of setting and objective. Compared to Darktide it is fairly barebones, but thats because the game is less focused and seeks to provide multiple types of modes and experiences.

The biggest difference you will find is the combat gameplay with the parry/counter, dodge, gunplay and general combat flow all functioning differently compared to DT. For me personally, I thought the combat was clunky for the first 5-6 hours until it really clicked. There is particular momentum dictated by tempo, positioning, and class play style that becomes super satisfying when you get it down. Higher difficulties demand team play and probably spoken communication for most squads. I truly think for everyone complaining about the combat that it really is a skill issue, there is a lot of depth to the combat that doesn't become apparent until your core game knowledge and skill begin to coalesce.

Another thing that may or may not appeal is the setting and overarching art design. The environments, architecture and character (specifically space marine) designs are all incredible, perhaps even the best visual 40k experience if you have a PC beefy enough to push it hard.

I would say that if you are interested in engaging with the whole package---campaign, operations, and PvP---that the game is worth the current price tag (not the $90 EA though). If you are only interested in operations it may still be worth it, although I would suggest waiting until there is a slightly greater content offering (and probably a cheaper price of entry with sales). If post-launch support for WWZ is anything to go by, this game is going to blossom into a truly expansive and high quality experience over the coming years, so even if you pass for now it is absolutely something to keep your eyes on.

The game is completely bare bones and the gameplay is clunky.

There's a Co-Op campaign and a PvP mode.

Honestly though if you don't want to play the whole package just wait for a sale.

It has potential to be better. As of right now it's worse.

Yeah sadly there's a very small amount of missions although difficulties seem to offer a bit of variation on objectives and the enemies come much more fast and furious as you increase it. Teamwork isn't a recommendation it's a must. If you get surrounded you're dead. If you get stunlocked because you have no one next to you to apply pressure, you're dead. If you run off on your own because you suffer from terminal protagonist syndrome ( something most multiplayer pugs suffer from ) you're gonna get yourself and your team killed.

Stay together, work together, cover each others weaknesses and don't try to do it all. The game has a wonderful class system that really emphasizes, " Hey you suck at this one particular thing, let your partner handle it " It's excellent. When the flow hits and everyone is doing their respective jobs, it hits WELL above its weight.

I fully agree with this, maybe give this game a year unless it dies before then

Better off just sticking with Darktide until it goes on sale. If you've played that game, you'll probably find the combat here super underwhelming.

It is way better than Darktide. Makes Darktide look last gen.

if you didn't play as the garbage in darktide and they actually had space marines and like battle sisters and actual inquisitors...had 3rd person view and if i recall doesn't have iframe on dodge it would be a better 40k game period...the problem is SM2 seems very very limited atm...they need to add about 3x the map variety in pve...at least...something that creates more variety within those maps...then add some maybe "raids" to kill some actual big ass tyranids or chaos daemons or somethin....the game just needs more...i have it...am a sucker for the 40k aesthetics, like grinding games for cosmetics to look cool....but other than that, darktide is a better game...but i hear it's almost in an abandoned state....sadly not a whole log of wh40k fans want to play as trash prison scrubs, me included....

which is sad because darktide has a lot of really cool stuff in it. the trend of mediocre 40k games sadly continues

Dark tide took TWO years for it to get "good."

It was just as Barebones if not more than SM 2 at launch

Not a huge Darktide-fan but i played it more then this game on the gamepass. Pretty much done with SM2 after 15 hours, and i spent around 50 hours with Darktide.
