It does seem weird. I thought they all originate from the same gene seed. And thus should all share similar characteristics and the same ethnicity. The same seed kind of implies this logic.
Wonderful idea.
You won't find "ethnic" models of Space Marines and such before the last two editions, now they ramped up the diversity a ton. GW are still Brits and thus eager to show how inclusive everything is. They've been putting Ethnics front and center in the latest books too.
