Is this just a warhammer reskin of world war Z?
Been playing it for a bit and something just kept bugging me and i could not put my finger on it, because stuff in the game felt really familiar and wasn't sure what it was. Checked other games that iv played and noticed that this play somewhat similar to World War Z, with the large enemy waves, shooting at enemies piling on top of each other to get up walls, I get games can use ideas or use certain mechanics that other games have or use but it just makes it feel like a re-skin. I'm going to keep playing but this just seems like a re-skin of World war Z. Has anyone else noticed this?

would say no, not really. the biggest similarity might be that both games have less in the way of replay value tho.

I thought about it too, when I saw the waves of enemies arriving with the objective of survival, I said to myself: World War Z.

Saber Interactive took ideas from the mechanics of these own games to build this one ^^

The first time I thought of world war z was when the gaunts started clambering at the base of walls and started stacking, that gave me serious wwz vibes, but outside of that the game felt more like painkiller to me.

It looks like a complete reskin of World War Z.
Even the hoard mechanics feel the same, from the last DLC.

Which is why im sort of holding off on buying it.

World War Z lasted at best 3-4 months before people just started getting bored of it, because its a repeat of the dungeon all over again.

A friend pointed this out to me as to why they look some what similar, It's because they are both made by the same company. I didnt not realize this when i made the original post.

the combat , horde mechanics and talent trees are lifted wholesale from WWZ

Yes your right

It's definitely not a re-skinned WWZ. They are using the Swarm tech from WWZ for select situations in gameplay (mostly holding elevated objectives).

The re-skin complaint is a total lie. By this logic, everything that has ever been a thing ever in history is a re-skin of whatever came before:
  • Necromunda? Re-skinned Titanfall.
  • Warframe? Re-skinned Dark Sector.
  • Ice Cream? Re-skinned milk.
  • USA? Re-skinned Britain.
Let's turn the nuance capacitors on in our brains for once, yeah?
After playing few missions i felt the same... totaly World War Z in disguise.

Considering their xeno swarm mechanic is basically the same as WWZ hordes.. thats the only real thing I noticed that was basically a port.

The rest idk I wouldn't say so

Edit - Actually the AI teammates being horrible is about on par with wwz teammates lol

The game gets much better once you understand the flow of combat and Perk synergies.
