controller
Controller is amazing for this game especially because it has native support, also using wireless. Just remember to disable Steam Input otherwise it won’t work at all.
KB/M, have a controller for games that literally require it but something like 99/100 are normally fine without, significantly better when controllers aren't given the crutches of aim assist. Only other exceptions would be HOTAS for good quality flight/space sims and the very rare title that requires a wheel and gear shifts for a decent vehicle sim which are even rarer than flight/space.
Even I love keyboard and mouse I use Dualsense for this game and its amazing.

K/M is always superior, but the devs really did their best to deliver the most hainous K/M control scheme.

Do yourself a favor, do the following rebinds (assuming you aren't a caveman and have a gaming mouse with more than 2 buttons):
- Aim on right clic
- Mouse wheel to change weapons
- Mouse 3 to melee
- Mouse 4 to parry

Already with that the game should be playable.

I'm still testing stuff but agreed, defaults are a bit messed up, went with a variation that just made the keyboard binds less awkward to start with, 1-3 same as default but 4/5 parry/dodge. On the bright side, thank the emperor its not a console port with no rebinds.
Look like most people agree this game is better on controller?
You're playing a SHOOTER that supposes you have to AIM sometimes. Don't embarrass yourself and play with a mouse

lmao its not a shooter, and for the brief moments where you do have the time to plink things at range, you have auto-aim on zoom in and can snap to whatever you are facing

this is a third person action game with significant vibration feedback that adds to immersion, you're depriving yourself of part of the experience by playing with a mouse
I just can't get around only supporting ONE binding. You cannot bind to mouse button AND keyboard button.

It's definitely more natural. Biggest issue is when ♥♥♥♥ gets crazy controller feels meh bc of the low FOV, very hard to maintain situational awareness. KB and M feels better once you remap some muscle memory and change a bind or two. I went KBM->Controller->Back to KBM. After about 5 hours the weird control scheme started to click.

they could have made M1 sword and M2+M1(aim and fire) gun like other games with hybrid sword+gun gameplay, but it seems the design was with controller in mind first and foremost

it's possible to play it comfortably, but not with default binds, and difficult if you either don't have a mouse with thumb controls, or a mouse with numpad thumb controls(hello, it me)
K+M and I was a huge console player. Just rebind what you're comfortable with
