Is Assault under powered in PVE?
I like hammer, so I started with assault class in PVE mode.

I lose my armor every time I dive in to med - large group in the middle of the fight. If I focus on group of small targets, the larger targets will usually take off my armor in my 2nd - 3rd swing. If I focus on larger targets, the smaller group will just gang up on me, and I take 8-10 hits from them, which then I will lose my armor.

When I try to parry normal attacks from larger minions (not the blue thing that pop up) All I get is just a normal block with no attack following it? I am not sure if is a bug, but the parry does not attack after a block, perfect or not.

Also, dodge does not work in mid swing, there are too many times where I started my attack with enemy not doing anything, and then it will start a dodge event (red circle), and because my attack does not cancel their action, is a guarantee hit on me.

This is in average mode btw, not even harder difficulties, I honestly don't see how this class is going to work in harder difficulties.

I am not sure how other people feel about this class, so asking if anyone else feel the same, or am I playing the class wrong.

At least you can somehow defend yourselves or jump away when surounded. As Heavy, i get left behind with multiple hordes coming from all directions on a regular basis, with almost no chance of fighting back.

Armor economy is a joke in this game. I play Bulwark and am in the thick of things all the time, but lose armor way too fast. Doesn't help when shield bash doesn't actually break blocks like it says it does in the combo page. Banner needs to come off cooldown faster.

I've noticed that too that a parry doesn't seem to work on the bigger enemies. I hit it perfect and do an animation, but the enemy just doesn't do anything?

I swear it seems if you do anything besides dodge when you see a red circle, the game locks you into getting hit by it no matter what.

had similar issues with hammer and fist so i switched to chain sword and it was immediately a better experience

It's pretty disgustingly good in easier missions. But sadly guns > everything

You can check out legacygaming or whatever they have builds for every class.

If your weapon has "block" defence you don't get perfect parry frames. All melees have a green variant that does this, so maybe check if you're using it

It does not work 100%, sometimes, pressing Q does nothing

Iron Halo only blocks Ranged damage, not melee.

Yeah combat mechanics are lacking. Weak armor and weapons.

Any class that hinges around armor economy is bad. Because armor is paper thin, and unless you are constantly hitting eliminations you will be running bare naked after a second in a combat. Bosses who you cant replenish armor at are the worst offenders when it comes to encounters - as that's where Assault has to become a hit and run class, and fill the damage between windows with measly pistol.

Armor needs to be made more substantial when it comes to taking damage or (preferably) the entire mechanic of refilling made so every kill (not only eliminations) were giving some back. Because this is what's killing this game and the combat system.

I know and avoid "block" weapons because of it. The Power Sword is exclusive to the Bulwark and Saber had the balls to put "block" variants on it as well. Blows my mind when parry is absolutely necessary for the entire game.

A half fill per any kill per armor segment would be a vastly better system. An elimination on medium enemies should give full armor back for the amount of effort they take.

I'm a main assault in pve and i can tell you that i do not have any problems with the class so far. Playing on difficult 3 right now and i don't have him maxed out yet. I'm like level 11? The only thing i am struggling with is long ranged warriors spam who shoot those green sharks and rip you apart in seconds.

I don't know how you are playing the class but i think assault is pretty strong especially with the thunder hammer. Don't play him like a tank since his shield is pretty low. Pick your targets carefully and don't attack enemies head on since that's the wrong class for it.

Always depends on the weapon. If it is a finesse weapon, it is pretty easy to parry if it is a block weapon, you cannot parry and the thunder hammer tends to be more of a block weapon. I think there are finesse versions of the hammer but havent tried them out yet.

Maybe higher tier perks solve the problem, but the insanely long cooldown on the jump ability is just very, VERY lame and honestly ruin the fun of the class.

Aslo why the hell can't it take power sword or plasma pistol?!
