so i'm starting to belive the Assault class is the weakest class in PvP.
Dose pretty good damage but can't instantly pop Q because of the locked melee animation, cant 1v1 because the team is always together. if you manage to do 1v1 depending on how skilled the enemy player is, he can instantly dodge while stunned witch doesn't make sense. yes, there is a grenade that stuns & slows them down but its still useless. My advice is to pop Q each time you land on the enemy team but that to can be useless sometimes, do not melee, save your last Q to get away.

The mistake people make with the assault and i see this in pve gamepaly aswell is, that they always jump right in the middle of all enemies and i do not wonder, becasue thats what they show in the trailers. You have to support your teammates by jumping in the enemys front or flank, distract them a bit and disengage by jumping away agian. You are not suposed to survive in the middle of dozens of enemys. You act as a distraction, when its need fast. That you cant handle 1v1 is maybe a skill issue and i say that wihtout offense, really ;-)

That's how i play, as a distraction, getting the flanks & picking off the loner. the 1v1 is easy but i like said, depending on how skill the other player is he can instantly roll away while stunned? yes there are times i land in the middle of them just to do damage & assets, i do my best to quickly get out of there. i just got 18 kills in my last game as the assault class & that's my personal record. yay me. & you cant instantly jump away because there is an animation when lending & by the time the animation is finish your dead.

It's the lack of any stagger + ridiculous charge up animation for the ground pound. In the first game if an Assault got close you would have to roll away to be to shoot your gun or they would stun lock you. Their ground pound also came out instantly so you had to react quick to roll out of the way if you saw it coming.

Now in SM2 their melee does no stagger. You can just shoot them in the face, and you will win the damage trade. Their ground pound has such a long animation if you see it coming you can just casually shoot them dead in mid air. It's funny cause Assault was not even the best class in SM1 PvP. But would commonly kill newbies so I bet the developers played like an hour of SM1 PvP, and came to the conclusion Assault should be nerfed into the ground lol.

Assault are opportunist.
You can perfectly 1V1 people as long as they didn't saw you comming (ie don't just jump infront of them, that won't work) and they are the master at literally jumping to the aid of your allies.

I would say that the assault class is most likely the hardest to master. So i can only recommend to stick with your team and make no solo experiments for now till you become better. As you said yourself, timing is key and it can take time to learn it ;-)

True but anyone can kill anyone in this if they don't see you coming as the time to kill is fairly fast. You can kill most people faster with a gun if they don't see you coming. The only thing Assault has going for it is being able to reach some high places that might making surprising people easier.

I was thinking to main the Assault in PvE and PvP because I liked it from trailers and jetpack was cool in first game. now that I'm playing I do feel pretty weak, also seeing posts like this.

I wonder if upgrades and skill tree make any difference? someone maxed any good build?

guarantee you I could 1v1 you in any other class against assault and I would win 9/10 times. I was a master at assault in the first game. The current state of the class feels like an abortion in comparison. It's slow, clunky, and you spend more time running on the ground then you do in the actual air. Both Vanguard and sniper are significantly more effective at sneaking up and 1v1ing enemies.

"guarantee you I could 1v1 you"

Let me guess, you are the type that stands infront of main citys in MMOs, spamming duell requests till people block you ...

I dont even play pvp in SM2, my tip was based on logic and 30 years expierence in gaming. and also some kind of last resort. Because if im honest, im pretty sure the pvp in SM2 will never be what it was in SM1 and do you know why? This is simply a complete diffrent game from a complete diffrent developer that has no respect for what SM1 actually was in my opinion. On top of that, they have no clue about pvp, they said so themselfs. The game is also oberrun by cheaters and all the devs did was implementing EAC. But im sure they have noone that looks into cheater reports, im pretty sure they ignore them all. They also have no respect for 40K lore, but claim otherwise for marketing reasons in my opinjon. Im also pretty sure that the upcoming content will not be what most people expect. In other words, this game will most likely not survive as long as SM1. You can trust me when i say that there is most likely noone who is more sad about that then me. This game is really not what i expected, but it is at least still kinda fun to play. Even if i have to pump a whole mag into a nid warrior with my heavy relic bolt rifle and a developer who thinks lowering enemy hp is the solution for this, when it actually only buffs op meltas even more ... doh :-/

At least they have interest in making coop content and im thankfull for that as coop fan ;-)
Im sure they will buff the assault aswell in any way, the question is if people gonna like it ...

Yes, it's obviously the weakest since melee is weak in PvP and assault got nothing going for him unlike Bulwark who's top tier.

I have never seen anyone use Assault with anything other than the thunder hammer.

I like to jump in the middle of my enemies when the perk which gives 10% cooldown per enemy killed lets me hop all over most of the minoris enemies in a wave like an insane rabbit.

Yeah that sounds kinda fun xD

The devs have commented on this too, the community think the class is under performing. you have to be a vulture in order to play the class. you get 2 armour, A dodge that is possibly the least effective out of all classes, the only thing its good for is moving your head hitbox. the class improves once you unlock the heavy pistol but it doesn't make up for the fact if the target doesn't want to be hit he wont be, if you are caught by a vangard you are dead 100% of the time unless you have team mates. sometimes your stun attacks dont even stun. its not unplayable but it is hard work for little reward, and if you are playing with a team most of the time your just getting assists because every one else has a quicker time to kill than you do.

You all got no clue about pvp it seems. Bulwark and Assault should always be at the top of the scoreboard. Assault is ez as ♥♥♥♥. Take hammer. Push up to a spot. Jump strike whatever you want. 3 people stacked? 3 kills for free. 75% hp gone on 3 targets is more than enough even if you die, your mates should clean up. But honestly. The moment you hit the ground just hold q again and dive onto the next enemy or the same to finish him up. The mistake people make with assault is trying to fight melee on spots while there's 3 enemies watching your sexy jumppack ass. On close quarter spots a shockgrenade to blind and slow enemies is enough to jumppack dodge behind them. Give them a good old charged rightclick spin to win hammerwhooping and again, you stagger and kill everyone with one attack if they're clumped. Every lobby I'm in is void of assaults until they feel the wrath of jumppack, then all spots are full. I wonder why. Class has been the number 1 class in space marine 1 pvp same as here.
