Because if you're playing with bots, there's no reason to play on AOD difficulty.
For the challenge? No?
Yes it's difficult but thats what the hardest difficulty is supposed to be. Right?
Im on the 4th or 5th mission I believe? I just finished the elevator mission that everyone is talking about atm on AoD. Id say for the most part its doable except a few times where things get crazy. You just need to keep practicing and going at it.
One tip I can give you is reload is you friend. Sometimes it's better to just reload after using like all your healing items, revive, etc than try and keep going. Another one is theres very often explosives laying around that are hard to see, use them. Especially in the later missions, theres a good bunch of them so dont ignore them.
If it's too difficult man, dont bother with it. Better you enjoying the game than hating the game because of the difficulty.
Personally I like it for 2 reasons: I like the chaos that it creates and I paid 100$ for this, I wanna get my moneys worth xD.

Restart the mission, get the machinegun, get 2 heals + revive, use grenade to clear off small mobs, focus on killing to big mobs fast.
NGL though the next part of the mission is also as hard as this one. But no bugs though.
All the while bots are like huh?
Thank God that 3 lore accurate Space Marines was enough.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ artificial difficulty once again. "Hey hey guys, look at our difficulty modes, mobs just take forever to kill and one shot you! Didnt you like difficult games like Dark Souls?"
Especially after you farmed Ruthless in Operations for some time.
Ruthless feels harder than Angel of Death for sure.
Also don't heal yourself with medpack until you have a mortal wound or you would have wasted a pickup anyway. Healing to full health with a medpack will remove the mortal wound, so it's better to get revived by AI then heal twice, giving you essentially the amount healed with two medpacks + a full bar of HP.
AI friendlies are better than people actually since they are incredibly tanky and revive you very reliably.
Krak grenades are your friend to quickly get rid of zoanthropes, aka. the most dangerous enemy type of the Tyranid faction.
Overall it just takes practice. My first campaign run was in Veteran and I found it pretty difficult. Once I spent 100 hours in coop I tried the campaign in the hardest difficulty and found it to be pretty managable. There will be a point once you get good enough, when you see a group of 5+ majoris + horde of gaunts and you're like "that's nothing, let's get in, parry everything and kill everything and come out unscathed" you'd be good with everything the game throws at you. The true threats are zoathropes and ranged enemies overall.
