There are currently 6 PvE Operations that actually give progression. This is not a looter game. You get EXP for the weapons and Class you use that you can then invest into perks for that Class or said weapons. You also get a currency for completing maps that you can use to customize your Space Marine with decals and paint and such. They are purely cosmetic though and do not give any bonuses. There is a PvP mode, but I haven't tried it.
Is it mid af stat increases and not actual cool perks like headshots make enemies explode etc?
A bit of both, but it is very reminiscent of the skill trees in World War Z (it is the same developer).
Honestly, that is all fine and good, but what will be the biggest problem for this game and retaining its players is the fact that there is only 6 PvE maps that give you progression. The fact that the Campaign doesn't help you with progression at all is baffling to me.
But there is stuff like on parry you create a small shock field, your grappling hook does damage in area or damages everyone on the way to enemy. Banner resses people, makes them do more damage or take less.
Fairly standard faire.
If you played vermintide about as involved.
You have a set of maps that each take about 30ish minutes to get through and you level up the different classes and get cosmetic and weapon unlocks.
More will be added later etc etc.
Left 4 Dead maps have WAY more replayability with their director system, so I would probably not compare it to that. There are very few changes on the same mission in this game.
I found the combat to be very lackluster while playing the campaign solo, and the higher difficulties are borderline unplayable. But after I finished the campaign and played coop, even with randoms onlin, the game showed its true colours. That being a pretty fun cooperative horde shooter. There are way better games out there than this though.
We can hope!
Not like L4D it has no where near as much replability. I have been playing operations all day and there are no randomly spawning hordes on maps. It's always at certain points the enemies spawn with very little variation.
I would say the replability is worse then WWZ. That's the only thing that worries me is how many time can you play a mission with it barely changing.
i also had back to back, on 3rd difficulty horde, zorans, boss, horde, cause game really decided group have it too easy.
I agree. I just finished the campaign and i also wondered about the end game. But not including the campaign as a means of further game progression or character development al;so baffles me. I mean look at games like Borderlands and Remnant. I still play end game content in just those 2 examples.
