Releasing your game on Steam without Steam Input working, fail! Having the same issues on 2 different PC's with both wired and wireless 8bitdo controllers. Hopefully they can fix this soon.
I have the 8BitDo Ultimate BT controller for reference. To get the game to work, I do the following:
1) I keep my controller docked
2) I turn on Space Marines 2, pass through the menus, and get into the game itself.
3) THEN I undock my controller, and voila, it connects to the PC and gets detected.
Just in case it still doesn't work for you, I did try enabling all the settings under the Steam Settings > Controller > Enable Steam Input for Xbox, Switch Pro, and Generic controllers before I did this.
I was trying wired switch pro controller. Due to this response, I tried unplugging and plugging the controller back in after I got into the a game. It still wouldn't work. However, It does take the inputs if I'm simultaneously holding down the home button.
Anyone figured this out?
Found it, right click the game in your library list and go to Settings
