It sounds just like him. Im going to try look up the VA
If they aren't paying attention to 'lore' or just don't care then sure, it could be.
Ulfar surviving until the begining of space marine 2 isn't far fetched at all lol
Huh? Last I checked, Space Marines can basically keep living indefinitely - as far as aging is concerned, they're immortal. In practical terms they tend to "only" last upwards of 300 years or so, mostly due to the whole Grim Darkness Of The Forty-First Millennium thing (read: they get killed).
EDIT: I double checked to be on the safe side - they DO age, but their lifespan is still measurable on the order of (many) centuries to millennia, provided they're very good at what they do or lucky.
But there are many references and actual space marines way older than that... Dante himself boasts a lifespan of approximately 1,400 years. So it going against lore isn't true at all.
Ulfar is not, so my thought that it probably isn't him due to the timeframe being two or three centuries isn't based on if they live naturally long lives, but being a space marine constantly fighting the worst battles they can find.
Something I find interesting is that while Marines don't retire, Custodes do retire from frontline service, I wonder how long they could survive naturally.
Dante is special yes, hence the 1400 years. But it's really not far fetched for a marine to live beyond 300 years. See:
Dante OFC
Bjorn the Fell-Handed of the space wolves (although yes a dreadnought)
Gabriel Seth... although a Flesh tearer
Azrael of the dark angels - no exact number, but hinted over a few hundred years
Korsarro Khan of the white scars has lived for many centuries, though his exact age is also ambiguous.
Calgar himself is over 400 years old
Logan Grimnar - an unaugmented space marine. So hasnt been killed by age or combat
This is just to name a few. The exact age isn't always given, but its implied they're several centuries old.
I think it's something of an open question. I know there's some references to Custodes aging to the point that their reflexes start to get dulled, so they retire to make sure only those in tip-top shape are still on the front lines/guarding the Emperor or something. I don't know how old they have to be to get to that point though, nor how old they can possibly get.
Knowing 40K even the retired Custodes are out there kicking names and taking hindquarters, just not in the same capacity. I'd guess that even an age-dulled Custodes probably puts most Astartes to shame, to say nothing of "mere mortal" baseline humans.
I'm not totally up to date on the lore though, so I dunno how much of that is still true and/or relevant.
