Assault Jump Pack
Anyone have issues getting this thing to actually work half the time? Sometimes its perfect. Mostly I have to hold the ability for at least 10 seconds to maybe get a 6 foot leap. Not sure what the deal is. The one in the campaign is so much better than the one in operations. Big sad.

It just straight up doesn’t work the same as it does in the campaign. They nerfed the hell out of the operations version for no reason.

So all I'm seeing in this thread is operations gear got severely nerfed for some reason. It's a pve game mode and we're space marines. We're supposed to be pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ strong. That's kinda the point.

You can get melee'd in mid air too for some reason or just as you smash into the ground completely negating the jump pack!

Its definitely a pain in the ass to use compared to the one in the main game, not sure why they nerfed the height its a freaking jump pack

Assault needs some major luv. Their PvE jump pack should perform at least half as well as it does in the campaign, both height wise and recharge rate wise.

The pack IS the thing that differentiates the class from the others (maybe the hammer, but it seems no better than a power sword most of the time).

And for the trials (or in Ops) the trick is you have to actually see the yellow ring on the ground at the location you want to jump too before you can jump.

So you need to jimmy around so you can actually see the ring on the ground of that far ledge then you can jump. No yellow ring seen anywhere then no jump; works that way everywhere. Rather unintuitive.

Thank the God Emperor I found this thread and learning that I'm not the only one having this problem... I was so confused after finishing the main campaign, finding that the jump pack was completely broken in the Trail and Operation modes. It totally defeats the purpose of even choosing the Assault class.

I disagree with your statement that it makes it pointless to choose assault. even with the changes to the jump pack the assault still has unrivaled mobility

Literally having the same issue thus why I have come to this. Second challenge of the trials is cancerous when you cannot hover and shoot the sniper terminids like you can in the campaign combined with the distance you need to cover with only two jetpack abilites. I was wondering if the jetpack in campaign was different to the multiplayer ones.

Well I didn't have the issue of it not not working but just some things made available to do in the campaign I noticed I wasn't able to do in the multiplayer and trials.

And you are more than welcome to disagree. I just prefer to play with game mechanics that are not bugged/broken, so I will play the other classes first until Assault gets properly patched.

Level design seems too play a big part in this. I've found that some railings between gaps have an invisible wall that blocks the jump packs marker and when facing a fall in the level it cannot be activated.

Stairs and changes in elevation also seem to sometimes interfere with it.
Yeah, I've had this. Usually it happens when I'm trying to jump slam a Neurothrope when it's doing it's AOE bubble attack. Sometimes it works, sometimes I stand there like an idiot, holding down Q and getting knocked on my arse.

I think one of the big problems with it, is that uneven ground hoses up the aimpoint really bad.

This is probably due to the fact the hover before hit height is too low in Operations mode. It would work if you still had the Hover to the original level. But because they lowered that, any kind of uneven or different elevation ground hoses up your aim point really bad.

I can't believe that they haven't given assault the pvp jet pack in operations still. It makes no sense as it's the worst class by far and desperately needs a buff. It feels so much more clunky where as in pvp if feels awesome.
