Parry??
Someone pls explain the big blue parry to me.

I understand the small mobs you parry and its auto and instant.

I don't know whats going with the elite mob parries. I press the button when the blue indicator shows but nothing happens?

It feels terrible to attempt it and fail every single time.

Its like halfway through horde combat they shoved in Elden Ring?
I know some reviews mentioned this but dam this parry is bad.

its delayed with elites more like a real parry .

Execs dont heal, they restore armor
execs heal all your white HP
all dmg heal some of your white HP

Execs also restore 1 shield bar

Fun fact: You can parry normal attacks too. Just not the ones with the red marker.

You can!
You just don't necessarily get anything for doing so.
Forget parrying when you are soloing 3 elites + a swarm all around you. No amount of cope with blue circles will save you.

If you perfect parry an unmarked attack it will knock back enemies in a cone ahead of the player. Very useful for crowds.

Update:

Are you using the "fencing" version for your melee? If so, parry/perfect parry is pretty much guaranteed.

"Balanced" you have to factor in timing, whereas the "block" perk just does pretty much nothing.

PERFECT parry allows you to shoot them, theyll have a target over their head, and can quickly kill elite mobs especially with the heavy bolt pistol
I just randomly am allowed to shoot them. no coherence to it. you spam C and pray it works, because if you try to time it, nothing happens and 1 swing instantly breaks all armor

Parry systems are all dependent on each attack animation and each parry animation.
Just like those red circle dodge attacks there's no universal timing on them aside from watching the attack animation and dodging in the correct timeframe.
Problem is most of the time all those attacks are happening from off screen, from unknown or suddenly different positions, often with very sparce animation for reaction timing, and also often missing sound queues.
One major problem is that parrying an attack from a Majoris or Chaos Marine will leave you open to melee attacks from Minoris enemies that will make your character flinch out of the parry animation so you get a Double Whammy on you.
I just tap the c button more than once quickly when the blue circle pops up coz I like the button mash

I have same issue, parrying the Warrior feels weird.

Should I tap or Hold?

I wish there's a training mode without the AI NPC where I can train parrying.

For practice you can go to the Armoury and I think it's called "Trials" where you have little tutorials to play through with a challenge, mostly "Clear all enemies under 40 seconds".
I found that those are more helpful in actually learning the ins and outs of combat than the actual introduction tutorials at the beginning of the game.
Certainly beats playing in Campaign or Operations and suffering through until you learn what works and what REALLY doesn't work although it should.

Coming from other games this system feels a little janky. the blue circle is not an indicator of when to parry with anything other than mobs.

For the rest you have to time it. it tends to be a bit after the circle shows but you're better off going for the visual and parrying according to that. you can also parry attacks when there's no blue circle but be mindful you cannot parry red circle attacks. only evade/dodge.

As for the health regen... I never relied on it unless it's Titus's ability. I mostly do execution for the Armor and to get a second or so of invulnerability + close some distance as you can execute it from a decent distance.

Beat the campaign without knowing this option.

I think executions regen one armor bar and heal only the white segment of the hp bar which is the health lost shortly before the execution
if thats the case, it kinda kills melee.

That is the case, and no it doesnt.
Also dont forget there are 3 different types to melee weapons. Only fencing and balanced melee weapons HAVE a perfect parry window. A melee weapon with the "block" property cannot have a perfect parry. Basically the stats of the weapons define its type.

That isn't always the case but it still doesn't. Vanguard is the only class that can 'heal' off melee executions of majoris + level enemies.
