Melee is integral to the SM formula. If it doesn't work outside of two specific weapons limited to 1/2 classes, we got a significant problem.
Do you want the heavy to just be stun locked to death?
I get the concern, but again; making two classes functionally useless other than target practice if they can't even do their primary role. I'm just trying to offering solutions here.
uhh yes, this is a team based tactical shooter if the heavy is out of position and getting 1v1d you should just die. your fault. skill issue. melee should hard counter ranged as in you get staggered and cant shoot and are forced to fight in melee
why? because the guy that just got in melee with you was getting shot the entire time he ran up to you, it should be rewarding and competitive. Right now there is no point in trying to get into melee because even WHEN YOU DO, you will still get gunned down. Doesn't make sense. its dumb. needs to change
This is the way. Eternal Crusade did it right, just copy and paste
They solved this issue in the first game by making all the heavy weapons require a locked in stance to use their maximum potential. In the case of the HBolter, it would start firing faster and ramp up its RoF the longer you kept the trigger down.
The trade off? You were immobile while doing it. Granted, i don't think SM2 having them move a bit is that much, but it is annoying when I smack someone with a Thunder Hammer, and they just dump have a dozen HBolter or Bolt Sniper shots into my face.
The Assault Slam has a massive trade off now as you have to spend at least a second to aim and launch yourself into the enemy, while essentially wearing a giant "shoot here" sign, even if you're trying to do a quick jump.
Or how about Vanguards using their grapnel launcher, and legit getting a free stun, but if they go straight into melee, most classes can just shoot them faster than they can swing?
Again, one of the issues i think is contributing to this is that it feels like the guard/parry doesn't work when you are going into melee. It's not meant to mitigate damage like Bulwark, but i've witnessed several times (both inflicting and being on the receiving end) where i've seen melee attacks connect, despite parrying. It does feel like they may have rushed this aspect of the PvP.
Could've used that dev time to make an additional PVE map or two.
Wow almost like the forum is getting used for its intended purpose. what a tard
THE END!
