Can you co-op without Epic online services?
No one gives me a straight answer. Can Steam play with Steam (no crossplay) with the Epic stuff removed?

Im gonna say no as you cant even get to main menu without EOS
so you cant play multiplayer which includes co-op, so the answers is no

Saber supposedly responded to people and said EOS was not required to play SM2. The EULA is not my concern, I just want to remove the Epic software or not use it at all.

You might be able to depending on who you're trying to play with, maybe see that if they're on steam, you can just invite them, but on console, you need online services. I wouldn't know as I got the standard edition and haven't played yet. I hope this will help you or anyone else that sees this!

i uninstalled epic software and was still able to get into main menu past a prompt that told me to validate game files which I ignored. I'm still curious as to whether I will be able to co-op with friends on steam without it as I can play without it, i just don't want to pass refund window if this is going to be an issue.

You don't need any epic stuff at all, you don't need to even install it. I cooped right away with no issues.

Whats wrong with epic software? You realize the entire game is made with UE5, thats an epic software itself, and is why EOS is included as their netcode. If you dont like Epic developed software then stay clear of any game made with Unreal Engine because its developed by Epic. Most UE games use EOS as their server files because the engine is made for it, fyi, even if you dont ever see the overlay installed its still running EOS.

It's not on Unreal Engine, thank God. Everything Epic does is terrible and they are the worst thing to ever happen to the industry.
