Is there any counterplay to grapple hook?
or is it literally just a stun and free kill? can it be parried or rolled at all?

If there's a red/orange feedback, you can dodge. If there's a blue feedback, you can parry. If there's none, experiment, but I'm pretty sure it's meant to be dodged.

seems you haven't played pvp at all. that's not a thing in the pvp, there are no icon telegraphs like pve. Maybe don't answer if you have no idea.

ye the stun is just a hair too long for my liking, would be cool if you could parry it but so far that mechanic seems to be inferior to just getting into a slap match

dodging the chain seems to work but if im stuck its hard to recover

Hard one to nerf. Too much and you make it useless. Maybe do something like make the kick parryable. If you miss the parry it functions exactly as it does now. If you hit it it counter stuns so that you both recover at the same time and get a heads up fight

That’s exactly the way to do it

as soon as the grapple hook connects, you get stunned from what I have seen (This include shield connects & such) so you can't fire, dodge or so on

I could easily be wrong throug

That's my experience so far, you get randomly stun, followed by a heavy mele attack, and bam dead....
Very... unfun.

Not wrong thats exactly how it works. Even with teammates shooting at them I still die most of the time.

Yeah, the stun is way to long, it's pretty much a one hit kill. Broken as hell, but not when I use it, they seem to automatically recover, so ♥♥♥♥ knows what's going on with it.

So yeah everyone in this thread is absolutely right, the grappling hook is the developers successful attempt at making the game more accessible to roomtemp IQ individuals by granting them 1-2 free kills

"They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle."

However I have a jank solution to this issue for assault players alone, that exploits the simple mind of the vanguard player (no hate its just facts, if I told you it said gullible on the ceiling you wouldn't look because you cannot read).

So if you are playing assault (highly recommend the hammer but its up to you) you can hopefully work yourself into getting the drop on them, but even if you cant.
Just spam the ground slam!
sounds simple but it is effective, never ever take them in honorable melee combat because they will just use their boltor and win. They typically spam the grapple hook after you ground slam them once so quickly fly up to avoid it, and just watch for where they are grappling to and meet them there. This approach does not at all work if they have teammates around though, then its just a great way to get killed. I should also mention that while it is rare there is a chance that you will have to fight against a vanguard with a brain, I can't really give you any advice on this because it hasn't happened to me yet.
Good luck assault bros, this is your divine duty.

What about player versus player? Multiplayer? Unless I'm blind or maybe I turned a setting off there are no blue and red parry/dodge icons in versus multiplayer.
