Combat is not fun.
Combat is really bad. You cant menage hords. Distant enemies will hit you with 100% accuracy from ridiculous distance. Its immposible to fight in mele and avoid all "bullets"
Close combat is really not good, you cant proper fight and avoid damage.
I have 1500h in Vermintide and i know where is my skill issue and where mechanic is bad.
Combat is not fun :(

Basically it feels like you are in a Terminator armour without being in Terminator armour.

Pardon me, but the system is kind of the same.
The executions restore health, as long as your healthbar isn't emptied and retains healable health, shown as a white bar.
You can absolutely crowd dive and come out unscathed. It isn't easy with 'nids, but can be done.
To my experience so far it doesn't matter whether you melee execute or kill via the aiming reticule symbol with the sidearm. Both restore health and armor.

Kind of the same, yes. And it will work better with more experience. At the moment I'm really struggling, because "and retains healable health" is no minor point.
It really bugs me (hehe), that I cant heal without the stim, after that white bar goes away.
I'm sure I will get used to it, but like I said:
I think the SM1 system was more intuitive (and fun).

Fair enough.
I too think, that healable health goes away too quickly.
It isn't explained anywhere either, without observation ppl. naturally come to the conclusion that executes don't heal at all.
It makes wading in hordes harder, and emphasizes so much more of roles in combat and removing primary targets fast (especially with 'nids).
I think the game generally is balanced around co-oping even the campaign.

I'm more grossed out with the actual flow. Of the game.

Game rewards for stopping fighting and exploring, breaking tiny crates with inquisitorial I for heals. Guns hidden out of the way round the back of levels.

The combat wants you to move forwards but the game systems want you to stop and look around.
Sure the combat isn't great and the marines feel slower than in the first game (looking at you "sprinting" Titus) but the way the system mesh together is terrible.

SM1 nailed the driving you onwards, the only things hidden were collectables. This game the first melta rifle you encounter is tucked out of the way behind a lift.....what space marine hides weapons behind a lift for hi mates,....
They feel slower because those are Primaris - bigger. Look at how much distance you cover when running. But its hard to judge without Guards around

Except Primaris are faster in lore, the game even says so in the cutscene you cross the Rubicon in.

There are guardsmen later on in the story you run a little faster than them.

For supersoldiers who are supposed to move faster than the eye can detect they move like they are in treacle. If you have it fire up SM1 and feel how fast/unstoppable sprinting makes you feel then compare it to this.

I think the fact is since we play on pc with mouse and keyboard the melee doesn’t feel as good I tried a controller and it felt way different so if it feels clunky try a controller and see if that makes it feel different
I love use controller, use it on any soulslike game, but I suck at aiming. Can a guy who never aims do it?

Controller works best for this one. Aiming is almost immaterial. The Tyranids and even the Chaos Marines are so numerous and bulky, they're impossible to miss.

Your not supposed to engage from range only. Heck thats the fastest way to wind up a goner.

It took me a little bit to get used to it, but you HAVE to use the melee combos too.

Which would be fine, if the melee wasn't slow AF. It looks clunky and awful.

Coming from Vermintide 2 I don't see the appeal. Like it's a better game that you can still play, and many already own.

I guess this game is just for the few hundred interested in it's PvP that were fans of the last game.

Melee is complex. There are a lot of combos to learn and it's going to take time to work out what you can actually do with it.

Switching from keyboard to controller helped me.

Lol, what? "A lot of combos to learn." You're not playing street fighter.

Hold attack
Attack, hold attack.
Attack, attack, hold attack
Attack, attack, attack, hold attack.
Run attack.

Much combo, much wow.
Bruh, people can't even leatn those it seems, but trying to spam melee get swarmed and die. than complain on steam subforum. So yeah, even such combos are complex for an average modern gamer.

Seems like further evidence of a lazy console port to me. The game is not really intended for PC.

I also dislike the rather weak ranged weapons we have by default and our paper armor. Non of it makes me feel like an unstoppable space marine the struggled to balance. I just feel like wet paper to the weakest enemy type.

This is funncy, cause i have 1500 hours in V2, and 2000 hours in Darktide, SM2 combat is fun, it's just more like a puzzle, unironicaly get gut. Heck thats the fastest way to wind up a goner.

This is funny, cause i have 1500 hours in V2, and 2000+ hours in Darktide.

SM2 combat is fun, it's just more like a puzzle on harder difficulties, unironicaly get gut.

Damn

The armour system stinks and no health on execution means you cannot out heal the large amount of unavoidable attrition damage. On top of that, most of the ranged weapons feel pretty under powered once those guys show up.

Yea sorry but .. no.. not lazy.
A lot of us just don't like how weapons feel.
If i am magdumping a single warrior with a bolt rifle and it's still standing in the lowest difficulty.. just doesn't feel good.
I hope that with upgrades things will get better.. and then look at it this way, i'll be forced to play easy diff just to have weps feel powerful.

You can farm armor instead, it's the same system basicaly, why is it so hard to understand?

Executions gives 1 armor, gunstriking lesser enemis gives 1 armor. Melee after getting hit refill white hp.
