We are space marines… A lore accurate space marine should literally be able to “spam” melee into a horde of hormagaunts without even flinching. In fact they wouldn’t even be able to deal any damage to you at all with our armor on.
I feel exactly the same.
+1
Either give us a means of healing through combat, or give us an extra bar of armor.
Read the replies above you, we all know this, what we're saying is that it is not enough - and that the SM1 version was better. The window is way to small, and sometimes the situation literally doesn't give you the opportunity to make use of it.
Space Marine 1 aside, games like Vermintide 1 and 2 both have a better versions of this same system. In VT1, you could lifesteal, in VT2, you could gain "temporary health" through melee.
SM2, despite being a much less forgiving game than SM1, VT1, or VT2, has nerfed its combat heal system.
And there no genestealers but elite types have pretty much same strengths, if genestealers crack open terminators, means 1 hit from warrior and up types = you dead
Its also more operation type of game rather than 100 times make campaign and there pretty much skills and bonuses from squad to make it more interesting
Big fat this. It just doesn't flow smoothly, you can't interrupt your actions to dodge/block (at least not reliably), you can be interrupted/stunned far too easily, and the parrying often doesn't register.
That and most weapons being pitifully weak with terrible ammo capacity.
The only weapons that are actually fun to use are the Powersword, Thunderhammer, Powerfist, and Plasma pistol. Every other weapon is either inaccurate, weak, or has too little ammo.
Warriors are nowhere near the level of Genestealers lol.
And I’m fine with a one-shot bio plasma, they are already extremely telegraphed and easy to dodge.
Space Marine 1 also did this better, or is that also not a fair comparison? Regardless, telling me "its not Vermintide" when I said "Vermintide did this better" only reinforces that "Yeah, it's not Vermintide in this respect, wish it was."
The combat does not flow properly because there is no way to properly heal or sustain through combat. The Contested Health mechanic, and armor/shields, are just not cutting it. There needs to be a better way to sustain in melee, given how much of a threat "everything" is.
Being stuck without health, and no enemies to execute, or watching you Contested Health vanish after a second or two when the game gave you no way to regen that health, is not fun, and breaks the flow of the combat.
Sorry, but Space Marine 2 is indeed a piece of entertainment media, if we're not having fun there is no point.
This is not an E-Sport.
