Epic Game Store Requirement?
I've been reading Steam reviews claiming that this game requires the Epic Game Store (and that it installs it?).

What's that about? Is this true or am I misunderstanding something? Does this game require an Epic Account?

Any information would be hugely appreciated.
Apologies if this has been asked before.

No, it uses EOS and it's not even a requirement to play.

Yeah though while in game you dont need to link an account.

OH! It requires the Epic Online Service? This is for Crossplay I'm assuming?

But otherwise there's no need to make an Epic Account or anything?

Thanks for the responses!

you dont need an account at all that is right. you link up with a code you get in game or on your steam friends list.

Another release, another revealing peek into just how dumb the average gamer complaining online about things that they don't even understand has become.

A dev posted a supposed fix here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2183900/discussions/0/4763207599014743199/ and locked the thread right after without seeking feedback or actually resolving the issue. If you get an error using that link, here’s a working one: [Focus Entertainment link] https://community.focus-entmt.com/focus-entertainment/space-marine-2/forums/27-bugs/threads/43786-encountering-issues-with-epic-online-services-on-steam#post-207813

Still, nothing works. I keep getting the same error. Some say it’s not required, which might be true, but why would they include it in the Steam version if it serves no purpose? There has to be more to it than just annoying Steam customers.

I followed all the steps exactly restarted the PC, extracted and placed the files where instructed, ran the .bat, and even verified the game files on Steam. Unfortunately, I still get the error on every login. It does let me play the game, but the error shows up every single time. Any other ideas?"

Steam discussions, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Insulting people for trying to figure out an issue doesn’t add anything useful to the conversation. Instead of being condescending, how about contributing something helpful? Dismissing valid concerns without offering solutions only shows a lack of understanding on your part.

Just like every other game that uses it, the only purpose is to enable cross play support with players on the Epic platform. That's it. It is really nothing even close to being worth getting enraged about.

Cross-play support makes sense, but the issue isn’t just the feature itself—it’s the fact that it keeps throwing errors for people on Steam. I wouldn’t call it 'enraged,' but it’s frustrating to deal with unnecessary errors every login for something that’s not even being used if you're not playing with Epic players. A smoother integration would’ve saved a lot of hassle.

I just uninstall the Epic Online Service, sure the game give a small error on start up, but runs fine.

Just turn off cross-play, after alle there are more then enough players on steam to play with.
