It worked fine for my PS5 controller. It even supports the Haptic Triggers which I had never felt before. Make sure you have it set up right in Steam.

I tried disconnecting other input devices like keyboard, mouse on 'Wuthering Waves'. My controllers didn't work with this game. (Most games work with my controllers though. Except MW III. This gave me a headache.) My keyboard is Razer, I disconnected the keyboard and connected another keyboard and it is a bluetooth keyboard. And it worked. So I could play the game with a controller and a keyboard at the same time.
Try disconnecting other input devices except your controller.

disabling steam input worked for me.

check to see if your steam controller input is off the game already has controller input integrated, that was my fix

Managed to fix it. Turn off steam input, exit steam fully and restart it while leaving the controller connected, reopen steam, then open the game without turning steam input back on. Came into the game and controller instantly worked.
