So depending on your system config you should be able to toss this into the steam launch options:
taskset -c 0-15 %command%
so for the 7950X3D it's 8 cores, 16 threads on the vcache and 8 core, 16 thread on non vcache.
so 0-15 as it counts 0 as the first core and that CCD is the vcache one.
Then use mangohud to see if it worked and you can see it parking the non vcache cores when the game starts.
Took a bit of finesse but I finally got this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ running. What I did:
1) Use Proton 9.13 GE, link is on page 1
2) Update to latest Wine stable build
3) Disable Steam overlay
4) Optional but also enable Proton logging so you can debug easier
As usual, make sure your packages are all up to date.
My specs:
Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
6.5.0-45 Kernel version
13th gen i9 13900K
7900 XTX
64gb RAM
As a follow-up, I disabled Steam overlay and that fixed the connection error for me.
I'm running it on Nobara, proton experimental.
Let the game install the epic bs, just press continue or whatever it is if it gives you error, DISABLE steam overlay.
EDIT: seems it was answered alread :P
I had bad experience with all Linux Distros except Garuda Linux, the gaming version, it specifically adds a bunch of game related apps and all the required files to play 90% of the games.
Out of all the Distros I have tried my FPS is the highest with Garuda also.
It's Arch based but they made a very easy to use installer.
If something doesn't run I usually have to wait for some sort of proton or wine update though just like all the rest.
I know people don't like the game but Star Wars Outlaws( would lock up the whole PC when it was actually loading the map on first play) wouldn't run at all without an update to proton even though all the other Ubisoft games ran perfectly.
And to stay on topic, I tried Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Anniversary edition(the first one) from steam and it crashes no matter what proton version I use on this same system, lol ..you can force some of the steam games to run with Lutris or Heroic or CrossOver launchers.
