Do I really need an SSD to play or will my HDD be fine
I looked up all the other requirements for the game, and my computer meets them or is better. The only problem is that I have an HDD, not an SSD. Would I still be good to play SM2?

I personaly think if you still using a HDD as a main drive to game you got bigger problems then this question =D

But maybe you are not so tech savvy and using M2 disks and count them as HDDs? Because DAMN spin disks are like made during the age of the dinosaurs :P

HDDs are barely adequate for watching a downloaded HD movie, so no.

Bro, when was the last time you had your computer on ? 2010 ?
This game seems to utilize lots of on demand texture streaming. I would expect a very poor experience for anyone playing it from a mechanical hard drive.
I've never had any issue running games that say they require an SSD on an HDD. It's just marketing BS.

maybe a few years ago. but it's a pretty safe bet all games being developed now assume you have an ssd, they have become that widespread/cheap.

you can get an ssd that fits 1-2 games for $25, and a 1TB one for under $100.
You need an SSD its listed in the minimum requirements and honestly its gonna become a lot more common now so probably time to upgrade.
please do your self a favour and buy a SSD.
Even a low end SSD is an improvement over any HDD. You can get a 1tb one for like 50 bucks.
Please, just get off HDD at-least for the Operating system, apps and games. SATA SSD drives are super cheap now a days.
You probably CAN play on a HDD. it's just gonna be slow.

But yeah, for the sake of your sanity, probably plan an upgrade path to an SSD.
Much like RAM becomes more of a need as the years go on. SSDs have become "the need" for storage and processing these bigass games we play.

It's a good time of year to upgrade too. With holidays coming up, you can definitely nab an SSD on a Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale, if your budget is a little strapped atm. Even a Samsung 870 EVO 1TB is on sale right now. 2TB model is on sale too. And i recommend those over M.2 drives. They last longer, and they're typically easier to install (some MoBos have a tendency to put M.2 slots UNDER THE FRIKKEN GPU and it drives me insane).

Happy gaming!

Some games can deal with a HDD, some get crippled. Not every game handles data the same way.

I played Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield, two games that they insist cannot be played without an SSD, installed on an HDD and had zero problems playing them at max settings. SSD's are a marketing gimmick.
Your data storage only defines the loading time.
I mean, an SSD likely helps lower your load times and they're not too expensive last I checked. Doesn't hurt to already have one by now.
