You fishing?
What exactly do you think the point is of the season pass, if its purely cosmetic OP?
not fishing. after tax i'll be paying over 100$ for the base game already. why should content be locked out at that already ridiculously high price point?
because people buy it and it's not illegal. it's that simple.
Alright, so your main point is not agreeing with the full price up the two tiers of the game beyond standard. Thank you for being more specific.
I imagine that there is a season pass, offering cosmetics, because they want to provide something extra for people who wish to invest further in the game/support the developers. This money probably goes towards developing the free content that they'll be providing (at least into 2025). Having the season pass be purely cosmetic also ensure that no one feels they have to purchase the pass in order to gain access to anything that might imbalance the game.
Are you here to argue that games shouldn't include a season pass? Are you advocating that the content offered in the season pass should be made free? Or is it FOMO, because you want the things that are in the season pass, but don't want to spend the money for the cosmetic gear (that will ultimately have no impact on gameplay)?
Call us "peasents" as much as you want but I see no point in a Season Pass for cosmetics because we can't customise the Chaos faction marines.
So it is a Season Pass for one team and co-op only, not worth it yet.
If you want to sell cosmetics, give me option to customize EVERYTHING.
does it suck for countries where local pricing is through the roof? absolutely, is is purely greed? not necessarily, people kinda overlook how expensive making games like this actually is, and further content means writers, voice actors, level designers, coders, artists, and everybody else around the office need to be paid
they chose the option where they're not dividing players by who buys an "operation missions pack" or a "pvp mode/map pack" or locking what could very well be the popular or "meta" weapons for operations and pvp behind a pay wall
so if you don't want or can't afford the season pass that's fair, if you don't want or can't afford the dlc when they eventually introduce it on an individual level that's fair, but they're still a business and they're going to have to keep trying to get money out of something both to pay their staff and to justify the expenditure of resources to their executives so I'd rather they do it through cosmetics than through gating all future updates behind paying up
it's not a battle pass
I honestly don't get where this idea keeps coming from, it's not like season passes aren't still in use in the more traditional sense
a season pass in this context is a bulk purchase of all the dlc (in this case cosmetic dlc) that they'd sell over a span of time (the "season")
a battlepass is the more fomo approach popularized in the last few years where you're expected to grind to get the rewards on offer for a season (a set period of content, quite often also including heavy fomo incentives like destiny 2 where you can outright miss out on story and never see it again because the season it was in ended)
there is a difference
example, i am not a person that buys pre-orders. it has been very very few times i have. however i do respond to season passes, because usually purchasing the season pass is cheaper in the long run if the content value is worth it. i was even doubtful about purchasing sm2 at first. however once i listened to the videos from the developers and i saw that passion combined with how much the game offers. i chose to buy the ultra edition flat out. its value impressed me because they werent in my mind offering something that was beyond the asking price.
while the season pass was made clear it was cosmetics, i was more than happy to support their vision and the longevity of the game, and in return i get extra shinies to add to the plethora of customization. admittedly i am all about tons of customization.
as Zastcat said above, its not for everyone the value is subjective. but there are many reasons for and against it, its all up to you to decide. and instead of being affronted, take the time to consider it for a moment from many angles.
